maps voice navigation sound issue ios10
Greetings -
Not sure if I am putting this in the right area but I am seeing an issue with the audio for voice directions on Maps not working correctly on my car sound system after upgrading to ios 10.
I use my phone connected to my car with a lighting to USB cable not Bluetooth. The car correctly plays audio from iTunes under ios 10 and does give voice directions if I have the AUX input (iPhone) chosen on my car audio system. Under ios 9 though I could be listening to the radio and voice directions from Maps would override the radio audio to tell me about upcoming turns, etc. Under ios 10, if I am listening to the audio from my iPhone and on the AUX input then the directions play across the car audio fine. If I on the other hand switch to another input like the standard radio then the voice directions are muted. I can switch inputs on the car audio system and see this occur each time.
I drive a 2011 Chevy Equinox without Handoff, as mentioned above use a lightning to usb cable to connect to the car audio, and currently am using an iPhone 6. I have not used ios 10 enough to confirm all other audio works fine through the car audio system but Siri, Music, etc. seem to all work fine through the cable connection to the AUX input just the voice directions are an issue so far.
I am not a software engineer but it appears that under ios 9 the voice directions had some priority when being sent to the car audio to play over the other inputs beyond the AUX input but under ios 10 that "priority" is not there and so voice directions will only play over music being sent from the iPhone on the AUX input.
Any tricks, hints, ideas, on something to try? Should this be reported somewhere else so Apple can consider adding it to a bug list to deal with?
Thanks -
