Can I put the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 into my Mid-2010 Mac Pro Desktop?

I bootcamp my Mid-2010 Mac Pro Desktop so I can play games on it as well. However, the graphics card is very outdated. I'm wondering can I replace the one I have with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080?

Here is a link to the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080:

Yes you can put a 1080 GTX in a Mac Pro 5,1 just wish Apple made drivers for it but for now it only works in windows, I have installed the 1080 GTX and a Titan X Pascal both works fine under windows, there no support for the Mac side as of yet here are a couple of videos I made on youtube hope this can help you out

Request for clarification...

If I don't care about being able to see the boot process [&/or have a spare card I can swap in in order to diagnose if necessary]...

Will a 1080 work 'properly' once the boot is completed, or would it still have some limitation/major speed hit/incompatibility?

In a similar manner to, for instance, an old GTX 570 which I have tried in the past with no noticeable issues other than 'boot blindness'.
