Random loading icon black screen after iOS 10

So I called Apple support on this and as above was advised the solution is a factory reset, but then to use my iPhone for a day or two to see if the issue repeats itself BEFORE I restore from my backup. For those of you who tried the factory reset option, did any of you then restore from an iTunes (not iCloud) backup? And if so, did the issue repeat before or after you restored from the iTunes backup?

I did a factory reset after 10.0.2 and restored from iTunes and mine still does it at least twice a day. Annoying but at least it doesn't kill the phone altogether, I guess. :/

Any real fix for this? It is annoying and it happens on my iPhone 6 (very often) and also on my iPad Pro.

Same issue here on a 6+. I did a factory restore but restore my backup over top of the clean install. I still get crashes roughly twice a day. Nothing in the logs, but usually only app crashes are available to us users. Support was useless. I was advised to Restore as New. The only reason I'm still on an iPhone is because all of my history is there. It seems unreasonable that a) a configuration file issue takes down the OS at random and b) there is no way to get a crash log.

I've got the same exact issue - nothing seems to resolve it. Done with ios 10, my iphone, and apple after 8 years. I guess I will be switching to Samsung or pre-ordering Pixel.

I've been experiencing this problem for weeks, seemingly across nearly every app probably 8-10 times a day at least. Reading this thread, I uninstalled Outlook and did a hard reset, as I am a heavy Outlook user and had it running just about constantly.

Crossed fingers, but zero black screens/kernel panics since, about 4 hours now. If this actually is the fix, appears the Outlook app may have a serious memory leak problem, but I didn't even think that an app could crash iOS in this way.

I uninstalled Outlook a day ago and it hasn't crashed since.

I dont have outlook app and mine is doing it. So it's not just that app. Has to be something else or other apps. This is stupid. Mine does it when I look on webpages from Facebook.

I managed to transfer this issue to my new iphone7. It started on my 5s after iOS10 upgrade. Switched to a 7 a week ago (from iCloud backup) and the same issue persists, only somewhat less often. I also use Outlook all the time, maybe time to try to switch to the native mail app again..

Would be nice to know the exact cause for this, since it definitely started after iOS10 upgrade.

So I did but the wheel keeps spinning for more than 5 minutes so I forced the shutdown (no locked screen, no code or fingerprint required: I had to restore via iTunes to perform the boot)

I did a factory reset at 10.1.1, two times.

First time without restore at all, second time restoring from a local backup.

I hope to avoid the 3rd.
