can i delete imovie?

If I delete the iMovie app from my iPhone (it's the #2 storage hog) what will happen? For example, will I still be able to watch videos that are stored in the Photos app/file? I haven't edited video on my iPhone and may not be doing so in the future. In other words, what does iMovie actually do? Thanks.
