Music won't download on iOS 10

In iOS 10 my music won't download to my new phone (iPhone 6S). When I go to a playlist and hit the download button all the circles start spinning next to the songs and they also go under the downloading section but none ever actually download.

I found a workaround where under the downloading section I went to an individual song and stopped the download circle and hit it again - and it would download. Cumbersome. But then I checked the next day and those had disappeared for some reason. So even the bad workaround isn't working.

I also tried shutting off iCloud Music Library and turning it back on but that didn't fix the problem.

Have you heard anything on this? I to have the same exact problem and i'm not sure if you called apple yet. I narrowed it down to only m4a file format with itunes match status: Uploaded. So anything that's matched I can download fine, anything that's uploaded that's mp3 i can download fine. But m4a's which are uploaded I cannot download, only the matched ones, I did everything suggested on this page, including signing out, signing in, reset network settings, etc

I'm wondering if anyone has got anywhere since this post? Also I tried to search for this issue and there's only 2 posts that I found about it which seems strange it's not affecting more people. I'm running iOS 10.2 with the newest iTunes as well on an iPhone 6s+.

I had the same problem, and i tried all the suggestions in this forum, but they didn't work for me. However, I did find a workaround. it's a bit cumbersome, but it did the trick. Back up your iPhone. Then, go to iPhone Settings>Music>Turn Off iCloud Music Library. On your computer, open iTunes and plug in your device. Click on the iPhone icon. Go to Music and select Sync Music. Select all the playlists, artists, etc., that you want to sync onto your device and click Sync. After all the music has synced, go to iPhone Settings>Music>Turn On iCloud Music Library. You will be prompted that the music will be deleted and replaced. Select this option. After a few moments, all the music that you synced will still be on the device, and you will be able to access the rest of your iTunes library online.

I tried this and it kinda worked (just for some songs). I think the problem is that some songs were taken out of apple music or something (or were replaced by other versions) and that means you can't download that old version anymore.

I think that's the problem 'cause when I do what you say I find some of the songs with a sign of "waiting".

Maybe I have to erase those songs off my library and look for them again.

I have been having the same problem. I found a solution for some songs. Songs/albums I purchased won't download in Apple Music (it starts spinning then stops) but if I go to the iTunes Store app on my phone > dots > Purchases > Music and click download from there, they will download.

Now I tried resetting network settings then turn on airplane mode and connect to wifi then I was able to download music from albums.

The difference this time was that everytime I reset network settings I was connecting to a wifi network but this time I connected to another one

I'll keep trying and will let you know if I found another solution

I figured out the issue and found a workaround until Apple fix this bug

this problem occurs if you lost your internet connection while downloading songs

to be able do start downloading again follow these steps

1- make sure you cancel all downloads in process "all spinning circles" ( go to downloaded music then downloading and cancel anything there)

2- reset network settings (go to settings -> general -> reset-> reset network settings-> and enter you passcode)

3- connect to your wifi network

4- go to music and start downloading

Just make sure you don't lose the wifi connection while download is in process if you will go out of wifi range stop downloads and start them again when you're back
