How do I make my Ethernet default instead of wifi only iMac

My network preferences defaults to wifi. How do get the ethernet connection to be the default and not Wifi

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Found the problem. I had a network switch between the fiberop connection and the ISP router. Once I put the fiberop connection directly to the WAN on the router and plugged my computer on the LAN the problem went away. On another note I found out also that the LAN connetion from the ISP router is faster than a network switch. So I put my computer connection to the ISP router to maximize the speed. Thank you for your suggestion and I am happy to know that my router has not been hacked.
