iOS10 Problem - Can not edit a contact found using spotlight search

Hello All - I am afraid I must agree with the comments here. This change was a major error on Apple's part. They have always made their mark by making life easier. Not sure who was in charge of this but it would be most helpful if it was brought to their attention. I am fortunate enough to have 3D touch and can make the adjustment to my workflow (although it does take twice as long). For those w/o 3D touch this must be unbearable.

I had this problem for nearly two months too, until I chanced on this page. Why change a function to make it harder to use (not all matched contacts show up in spotlight, and it takes two types of touch if you happen to have a phone with the new touch mechanism)? Basically, that was a screw-up, Apple! 😠

I might add one issue found with this - I find on my iPhone 6s that the contact has to have some additional information other than just a name; such as a phone number or address. I have a number of contacts that only have a name and in the notes section of Contacts I have entered other information. Your solution does not work if only name and notes field contain info. ????

Am using 5s.. this is what happening to me.. i guess Apple need to bring this imp fearure and i too use it most often.

I have the iPhone SE, released this year, it doesn't have "3D touch".

Siri is not a solution, I don't want people hearing me talk to my phone about my private contacts.

This is a BUG, Not a feature.

It is so simple, please just fix it.

I have an iPod6. I tried my guess of an equivalent to 3D Touch, that is, tapping and holding the photo in Spotlight. There's no option to open it in Contacts. Where's the “View” action?

But I used to be able to search directly from Spotlight. Now I have to first search for Contacts and then search for the actual contact. This is a usability regression.

You should post in the iPod touch forum, this thread is about iPhone,

Just tried this and it worked, thanks. More steps than the direct interface to the search result we had previously, but easier than having to replicate the whole search in Contacts again.
