I want to delete an app from iPhone 6 with latest operating system. When I tap the app and hold it, it only asks if I want to share it

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

iOS Reset -

Try a reset. Press & hold the Power and Home buttons simultaneously, ignoring any power off slider, until the Apple logo appears. Then release both buttons. This should not affect any content on the device, it is similar to rebooting your computer.

I did as you suggested with the reset, but the problem still remains

It sounds like you need to backup the iPhone to iTunes on your Mac. Next restore the phone to the factory settings and then restore the phone with the backup.
