"Phone" app freeze on iOS 10

Hello,


I would like to report an issue related to "hangs up" problem on iOS 10, iPhone 5S


PHENOMENON

App does not response or need to wait for few minutes to response.

The problem occurs after I upgrade my iPhone 5S to iOS 10


If you have any suggestion other than rolling back to iOS 9x, please kindly teach me.

I've been experiencing similar issues on my iPhone 6 running iOS 10.1.1. When using the Phone app, specifically the Voicemail tab, the app will freeze and not respond for five or more seconds.


Possibly related, I've also experienced problems where I cannot listen to my voicemail messages. I can start to listen then it suddenly stops and will not play the remainder of the message.


I am going to erase my iPhone and set it up as new and try to see if these issues are reproducible. I'm also curious if the forthcoming 10.2 update may address these problems.

To Apple support, no I won't reset. I expect working updates on the two most important apps Phone and Messages.


I see kind of reload on recent calls, changing name of calling number (mobile, work, home). Is it related to linked contacts form Office 365 and other CardDAV servers?


However my Messages app even crashes more, there mostly on writing. Is this related to to multiple langaues and in general to spell checker?


For now hard reset fixes the issue, sometimes for 30 minutes, sometimes for a day.

Hi, so it's actually mostly voicemail. I saw your post and did turn off iCloud contacts but that didn't work. I have two accounts for contacts, so I just removed one from the phone, and am now only running one account for contacts. It seems to be working! I turned iCloud contacts back on and that seems to be working. I'll have to test for a day or so.

Hi All,

iPhone 6s on iOS 10.2. My "Phone" app does the following since iOS 10:

  1. When I answer calls the app freezes on 00:00 seconds for about 10 seconds. Then starts counting right from 00:10 or 00:11 seconds. All this time the caller hears neither the ringing nor my voice.
  2. When I make a call using the Apple earphones, sometimes (not always) I do not hear anything while waiting for the other party's phone to ring. Then when I look at the phone, the duration counter is already ticking meaning the other party has already answered. Then I activate the speaker and wait to hear any sound and then deactivate the speaker. This way everything starts working & I can start talking via the Apple earphones.
  3. Call waiting: When I try to disconnect the ongoing call and answer the waiting call, it disconnects the ongoing call and then freezes & doesn't respond until the caller hears the 'no answer' message.

It's an iPhone with the word 'Phone' in its name. Please fix the one job it is suppose to do!!

I've had enough of Apple. They release op systems without proper vetting. They don't offer true support or clear solutions. Somebody over there needs to wake up and realize consumers are paying top dollar for constant op problems. Why should my phone lock up just because an app is updating. Where's the fix? Why should have to struggle to use those expensive phone. Enough Apple. I'm done.
