that's is a nonsense, so you mean that the calculator's keys are the ONLY in the whole system that needs a sound to confirm that they have been pressed? are you serious? O_O

Yes, you hit the nail on the head. Every other place there's a keypress there is a visible indication, as the character pressed is displayed. The calculator is the only app that has no indication that you have successfully pressed a key. You yourself have just explained why it's necessary for a calculator keypress to provide feedback.

But if you don't like the way the built in calculator works, there are several hundred other calculator apps, most of them much better than Apple's.

if the other keys have a visible feedback, I guess that this maybe is the solution.

Apple loves to discriminate old hardware with new features, then OK, use the iPhone 7 new haptic feedback. or whatever, but the sound is annoying and an imposition.

and the calculator is that kind of apps I don´t know where is it in my home screen (probably buried in some forgotten folder), I just use the faster way to invoke it, the "control center", I wish others apps could be put in there, but...

of course I could use even my old casio calculator.

Forget about the apple calculator - go to apple store and download "calculator plus" by digitalchemy. It is free and only .99c to purchase. Its great - % key visible, history of calculations - clearable, and without having to tilt the screen and so many other good features. Beats apple calculator in every way. I'm now happy stuffed their one because it made me search for a much better one - and I found it. Will never return to apple calculator. Thx apple for doing me a service

Apple's built in apps are very basic, in part so they don't compete with 3rd party apps. This strategy has resulted in allowing thousands of developers to make a living selling superior apps to Apple's. I'm sure it's intentional on Apple's part. I've stuck most of the built in apps in a folder that I never bother with; I have far better apps that I use daily.

Search for "calculator plus free" in store - the 7th app in the list is the one you need. A much better replacement instead of using the apple calculator. Designer is DigitAlchemy LLC. This app does not use any sound but gives a visual of the equations you type - very good - much better design than apple calculator. Will never go back to using apple app.

Seriously, there is nothing broken, so nothing to fix. The calculator is working exactly as Apple designed it to work. And, has been said many times, it probably works that way because there have been thousands of complaints over the years about the fact that the calculator doesn't give feedback when you press a key, which results in calculation errors. So Apple added feedback. If you don't like feedback there are hundreds of calculator apps that you can download to replace the Apple calculator that you don't like. I've never liked the Apple calculator, so I never use it (although it has gotten better over the years, especially now that it provide audible feedback when you tap a key). Instead I have several specialized calculators that I use.

It takes an incredible amount of conceit to believe that just because you don't like the way something was designed it must be broken.

Solved for 99 cents.

Impala Studios Calculator HD.

Has a simple calculator and an HD scientific calculator.

Has an on-off for keyclicks.

Yes - Apple is arrogant for always believing they know what we should want and for not asking or listening.

Apple, the company that used to say "Think Differently", and depicted all the people as drones who should break out if their gray drab 1984 mindset, is thinking for all their users.

Who is treating us like drones now?

Sure, it isn't "broken". But why on earth could they not give us the OPTION to disable the click for those of us who don't want it? I don't see why that's so much to ask.

Because that's not now nor has it ever been Apple's way. Apple's design philosophy has always been that they know, better than you, what the best way to do things is. They are not big on giving lots of options. Not everyone agrees with this. Some people disagree strongly.

So, your options are to 1) submit feedback, 2) live with it, 3) download a different calculator app, 4) buy a different device. Only you can decide which of those things make sense to you.

So it seems to me that Apple is dumbing down the user experience (my opinion) with IOS 10. I have traditionally loved Apple. But ever since IOS 10 made its debut, it's clear they have somewhat of a different mindset they are foistering upon us. Yes we have choices. Option 4 is sounding better and better (and I'm not the only one). And yes, Apple is listening on this thread.

Seriously??? Apple commands a premium for their products. If they continue to disappoint with these updates, people will replace their "aging" devices with other brands (which are getting better), cost less and meet our expectations. The gap between Apple and other brands is closing (IMHO). Apple can't afford to keep miss-stepping. Again, this is just my opinion (obviously). But this issue is just one of many with IOS 10. Sigh... Enough said. Thx.

Seriously, the most likely reason the calculator clicks was the thousands complaints that it did not click, meaning that users didn't know whether their entry was made or not. There are many calculations where the result is the same as the last entry, so people would press = again, resulting in a wrong answer. I've answered a slew of posts complaining that the calculator gives "wrong" answers for just this reason. I haven't seen any since the clicks were added. Just because you think something should work a specific way does not mean that your opinion is the only valid one.
