iOS 10 has left me with no memory!

hi all, since downloading iOS 10, my phone has no memory spare despite deleting hundreds of photos and other files. On previous versions of iOS it was possible to 'clean' apps which seemed to make space, or you could attempt to download a film that you didn't have enough memory for, which would again make space. Does anyone have a suggestion to get some memory back please? i don't understand how the memory could be so small as the

update is the only change I have made. thanks!

I have noticed that, even after deleting almost all of my photos, and checking what app is using the most memory, guess what...it's my messages!!

While I looooove the gifs, now I have gifs in my messages that are continuously running. I know that with all the additions to iOS 10, it would naturally take up more space, but with all these new features in messages, it's depleting what memory I have left. I don't want to delete the message threads, but isn't there a way to keep the gif's from...moving...all of the time? I don't understand why there isn't that option to make them a still shot after so long. For now, I'll have to go in and physically delete all the gifs. I've always kept most of my messages, and never had to worry about the pics I have sent in the past...it never took up so much space. But I am literally down to 15 pics in my phone and none of the apps are even coming close to the memory my messages are eating up. Never have my messages taken up so much memory...just a bummer. I like to go back and look at conversations I've had...the gifs have been a lot of fun. But now that I'll have to delete them, it'll definitely not be the same when reading back through the messages.

I (ios 10.0.2) received the message that I am almost out of storage. So I deleted and deleted and deleted - still didn't gain any storage - stayed at 566.50. So I deleted more and the storage became less. A few hours ago when I left my phone I had 425.1 MB left. I just returned to my phone and although I haven't touched it I now have 361.2 left. I am sick and tired of this stupid game. How can I revert to an older version??

Luckily - the javascript voids out on this "help" page - swift going Apple!
So - I too, waited to "upgrade" to iOS 10. Thinking that Apple would have the kinks worked out by now.
Instead I find that I have hobbled my once decent iPhone.
It claims thru iTunes that there is not enough space to restore the backup I made prior to the "upgrade." Fat chance that a backup would help make my iPhone "whole" - instead I see nearly 4GB devoted to messages that I can neither view nor remove.
WTH Apple? I have removed ALL the music. I've *never* loaded any movies or video. There is very little else that I can see to remove to make more space for your latest "improvement" to the iOS....
.... AND now there is less memory available than ever before.
How do we see our message threads?
How do we restore a backup?
How can we get these units functioning again now that your "update" has effectively screwed us over?

I was able to fix this issue by resetting my 16GB Iphone to its factory default settings. After the update to IOS 10 my phone suddenly ran out of space, even though I deleted almost all my apps, photos, and messages I still had ZERO kb left.

After performing the reset I now have 10 GB of free space, IOS 10, and the same apps and data I had before the reset.

Make sure you back up all your files to your icloud account first, then go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Settings.

Restore your data from your icloud account and you should have most of your space available to use. I'm not sure what the problem was but it seems like it was a bug on the update with the previous version. I hope it helps!!

I did it as well but after some time the issue showed up again

Same here. Not only that but the memory fluctuates without me doing anything to cause it. Yesterday for instance I had 1.5 GB left with 11.48GB used and now I have 389.3 MB and sometimes even 86MB for no reason whatsoever. (Also notice that I am supposed to have 16GB !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). Another thing is that several times my phone has turned itself off as if there is no battery left even though I l know that there is. I have a hard time turning it on and when I do it shows the charge your battery pic. As soon as I insert the cable and it turns on again I do have plenty of battery charged just as I thought. In other words this is crazy and annoying. My camera only works for stills if I turn it to video and then back to photo. After the last software update it got fixed but now it has stopped working again. I am fed up

Same problem I have. I have an iPhone 6 16GB I can clean stuff off including apps, photos, or videos and shortly after I am done and bam under a GB of space again. I wish you could truly delete extras and that I could enjoy the phone again but since the update I can't really enjoy the phone. Have to delete apps and add them when I need them again. It just doesn't make sense. Seems like the OS programmed to fill all but the last GB or so to make people get the next size up. I wouldn't mind buying the next size up but mine is a company phone and as of now I have to stick with the 6.

I had the exacltly same problem. Doesn't matter how many apps I deleted because in a just few time the available space was reduced again. And, of course, it is not because any other app was consuming the memory (like whatsapp, for example) because I monitored all of them. For sure the iOS is taking the new available space. Today I became so "despair" about that, then I completly reset my iPhone and started from ground zero. But just after the reset, just 11Gb from my 16 Gb iPhone Plus was available. These new iOS is absolutly ineficient about memory consumption, and worse, adding almost none value. I'm afraid to go back to the earlier version by security issues and comunication with my Apple Watch. But if the new marketing mindset of Apple is about to push every single customer to new devices with more memory by doing a terrible job with our memory, I think that I'm ready to experiment a brand new Android device, with abundant and expansible memory. I'm telling this even after to invest, for years, in different generations of iPhone, Apple TV, Apple Watch, iPad and Mac Book Pro.

Well, I'm still writting at Apple Forum, with some hope to have my memory back, but definatly this is my last shout..

Steve Jobs, never would publish a low value and highly cost (memory really is important to many customers) like this iOS 10.1.1 I think, in a hurry to compete you are losing the sense about what is important to your customers.

iOS 10 has left me with no memory!
