iOS 10 has left me with no memory!

For the battery issue I found that I had to wait for it to die properly by every time it died trying to turn it back on until it was dead for an hour. Then I charged it up to full and left it on charge overnight. Then let it run down again. And then it worked ok.

I have exactly the same issue. Switching off and on the iCloud library did not work either.

Till the last update it was sufficient to sync to iTunes, this would normally clear up 4 to 5 GB of "Other" data. After the latest SW upgrade to 10.1.1, this method does not work anymore.

It is a very bad SW bug at Apple, w/o any doubt,

I was fighting, several times every single day, with "out of space messages". I did the same as you, switched the iCloud off and activated it again, and 6Gb was suddenly available! I don't know if it will be permanent, I hope so!

Following helped in my case...

1. Backup iPhone with iTunes, deleted log data which was consuming lot of memory. If you have an app full of bugs the log keeps increasing and eats up your memory

2. Check if iTunes still shows the OS update, if not you are fine. In my case it again installed iOS 10.1.1

3. Remove the app you think has bugs and reinstall it.

This is useful. I indeed realize that the space is consumed mostly by log data. The biggest question is how to identify the app that crashes and leave such huge log data.

You can check your log entries, and see which app has created the most logs. The more logs for an app means there were exception that needed reporting/logging.

Another is the brute force method, backup your phone, reset your phone, install the newest ios if not installed already and then restore..all the apps will be installed again.

I personally noticed it when there is OS update, some 3rd party apps start behaving funny. i usually uninstall them and install them again.

How do I delete log data?? How do I even understand what the log data is or means or refers to? In Diagnostics and Usage there is a long list of - for instance "awdd-2016-12-05 090535" which leads to pages of gibberish and no way of understanding what it is or deleting it

I have a 16 GB I phone. Hw does one explain this??

The iOS 10.2 update seems to solve the problem for me!

I have the same problems here. Updated my phone to IOS 10.2 yesterday night, and now I see that I lost around 250mb.

I have 4.98gb available now, and that's not even close to enough for what I need.

I only have WhatsApp(220mb), Snapchat(250mb), Music(300mb), and photos(850mb). Besides that I only have some Apple apps that are in the kilobytes. My Maths skills aren't that good, but even I can see that that's not even close to 4.98gb. I don't know how this is even possible, but it is frustrating. Can someone please help me with this?

I Have the same problem. I restored my iphone about ten times now, and left only the apps that came with it. At first the storage was ok, but without me doing anything it kept growing, now one hour after, I grew about 1 gb. I've updated to ios 10, but the problem didn't start right after it. I don't know what to do anymore.
