I am also unable to access calendar events in the widget. I clearly have map destinations, times, reminders all set, but still it shows "No Upcoming Destinations." I have reset the phone, deleted and reapplied the app, and tried almost every suggestion in this thread and none of them have fixed the issue. I have the latest update and am on an iPhone 6. Apple? Where's the fix?

Same issue on iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Just a label and time but no route. I tried all the location service settings, resetting privacy and location settings, restarting, setting up as new, etc. Nothing.

I can also say that neither iOS 10.2 beta 1 or beta 2 (today) have fixed the issue in the last week.

If anyone finds the secret, let us know! So annoying as that was the reason to use this widget. Otherwise the Google one is more reliable (but doesn't say which route to take). 😠

So not sure if this is a fix or a coincidence. I clicked on parked car which it had as .2 miles away even though it's in my garage and I'm in the living room. I corrected its position to right on top of me and voila, the time and best route are now included in the widget. Maybe it only works if it thinks you're near your car because otherwise how could you get to the destination? Sense like a big (and bad) stretch but who knows. We'll see how long it lasts but thought I would send it this info.

Nice detective work bz101. Checked and no route or travel time, edited parked car to be right on top of current location, route and travel time for upcoming destination reappeared immediately.

Hope this helps Apple diagnose the bug. I like the parked car feature, but will leave it switched off in favor of a working widget. Too much hassle to edit parked location for the 90% of the time my car is parked next to my home or office.

As someone else had mentioned mine also out of the blue started working again. However all is not well and there are clearly issues software side. I checked it at a stoplight and the widget was flickering back and forth between home and work locations. I like this one better than googles as it evolves the routes I like to take. Unless apple allows google now/assistant to have a widget I hope apple tightens this up soon.

As of today, the widget (and Maps 3D Touch) is now displaying travel times and routes; the Up Next widget is no longer displaying this information. I also received a notification from Maps stating that transit routes for my city have been added. It seems to have corrected itself as it has done so in the past, so it must be an undocumented push feature rather than a bug (or a combination of both[?]), strange as it is.

It seems like there are a lot of things going on with this maps "widget". The "up next" feature, from what others have posted, seems to be tied to calendar appointments. That is not the feature I miss. The feature I liked was the one that every time I walked to my car wherever I was at it predicted where I was going and told me the time. And this was not always from home to work or vice versa (although I do have my home and work addresses accurately saved to my contact information in my phone). I don't work at my office in downtown very often. I travel mostly to a client location in another part of town. I never programmed that in my calendar or as a "work" address but somehow maps knew that I was travelling to this city primarily Monday through Friday mornings and would correctly display the travel time. Also when I was leaving my home in evenings or weekends IOS would correctly predict that I was headed to my kids mom's house in a completely different city and predict travel time. It really was a pretty dummy proof feature before and required no setup (i.e. didn't have to program calendar appointments with addresses and all that).

Hello belawyer,

Yes these features you mentioned do seemingly function, albeit slowly and inconsistently with the new widget. No need to actually input calendar events except for appointments and the like. When I travel to the supermarket or a colleague's home, the new Maps widget does present two locations most frequented with travel times; home being the mainstay with an alternative location based on what iOS feels is a frequent location. This is not as fool-proof as the previous iterations of iOS. I personally do 'miss' it as you do- these functional updates in iOS 10 have broken the elegant way the frequent locations logic was before. I have also witnessed the "locations flashing" anomaly experienced by some users here.

In the end, it is only technology programmed by a human being.

As of November 9, the widget has been functioning on my device, iPhone 7, iOS 10.1.1. It displays travel time to/from home, work and other frequent locations. A colleague who uses this feature also reports, after six days of 'malfunctioning', the widget displays her travel times as well (she does not use calendar events, only frequent locations/maps favourites). As for the accurate predictions you miss, I would say the new widget is inconsistent in that regard.
