I am also unable to access calendar events in the widget. I clearly have map destinations, times, reminders all set, but still it shows "No Upcoming Destinations." I have reset the phone, deleted and reapplied the app, and tried almost every suggestion in this thread and none of them have fixed the issue. I have the latest update and am on an iPhone 6. Apple? Where's the fix?

1. Place your work address and home address into your 'My Card' in Contacts. Be certain to choose the default labels, 'work' and 'home'; do not add a custom name. Add additional frequent places to My Card, customs names are fine, but be certain the address(es) match what Maps.app believes it should be.

2. Turn on Notifications for Maps - 'Show in Notification Center', 'Show on Lock Screen'

3. Turn on Frequent Locations; Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Frequent Locations

3a. Turn on 'Routing & Traffic'; Privacy > Location Services > System Services

4. In Settings, choose Maps and configure your 'Preferred Transportation Type'

5. Add frequently visited places to your Calendar as an Event. Be certain to add a Location by typing in an address from your Favorites in Maps or by manually adding an address in 'Enter Location' and choosing from the 'Locations' search query as to the closest match. Create the Event with a Title, 'Starts', 'Ends' and 'Travel Time'.

6. Now physically travel from home to work or work to home at least once. Travel to another destination that may or may not be in your Maps favorites. You should notice immediately that the Maps Destinations widget will automatically display 'Work' and 'Home' with estimated travel times, plus any destinations you have set in Calendar. Over time, Frequent Locations will also appear in the widget (like the supermarket), even if they are not implicitly stated in your Favorites, Calendar or My Card.

7. Finally, be certain that even when using Cellular Data, that your Wi-Fi is turned on, otherwise the widget will not update with recent information; a generic icon will be displayed instead.

The Up Next widget will also display events with travel info if they are in your Calendar or Reminders.

Hello -

I will preface by stating that, like you, I never had any issues with the Notification Center showing travel alerts and other data with the iPhone 6s and iOS 9; only when I decided to acquire the iPhone 7 did I notice Maps Destinations not populating. In fact, the widget was void until I noticed after two weeks of owning the device that the widget finally began to display travel times for 'Work' and 'Home' although these addresses were incorrect and based on guesswork from my Frequent Locations.

After amending the correct addresses to My Card, the widget began to display information properly. As a test, I cleared all Frequent Location History; and simply by traveling from the office to the apartment, the widget immediately began to display travel time for each location (point 6 in the list). Five such tests returned the same result. Notwithstanding, if I gave 'Work' and 'Home' custom labels, the widget would not display anything for these destinations. I would wager this is a bug, rather than a feature. The advice to add locations and events to the calendar was only a general suggestion per individual habits and if one needed to know the travel time/distance between scheduled events.

Certainly, my experience, as well as colleagues with iOS 10, adding an address for 'work' and 'home' in My Card, with System Services on, travel times to those destinations were always shown in the widget - this behaviour is nearly similar to the Google Maps widget, whereby inputting Home and Work addresses will show travel times immediately after saving the preference.

In conclusion, the widget is quite buggy and there are times when it will not display travel information at all - only an icon and label - which will persist for a few days. The Google widget is the most reliable I find.

Attached is a recent screen capture from the iPhone 7, iOS 10.1.1 comparing the output of both Google's widget and

Maps.

My 6s plus iPhone on IOS 10.1 has also been doing this for the last 2 days, it's showing the destination in the widget but not travel time or which route to take, not changed anything on the phone and I also have another iPhone SE which has started doing the same thing at the same time. If i go into apple maps it shows the travel time and route, most odd.

Wondering if it's a apple thing?

Any thoughts on this?

Having the exact same issue/problem. I did a factory reset and set up my 7 plus as a new phone and for a few days it worked as it's supposed to. That was until a couple days ago when now it just shows location and forces you to tap to see how long. It's clearly a iOS 10 issue/bug at this point. Previous iterations of this service worked pretty flawlessly as far back as I can think.

Having the same issue on iPhone 7. Destination, travel time and route showed correctly. Updated to iOS 10.1.1 and it worked briefly. Now, will not display travel time or route. Shows in Maps app, but not widget. Issue seems to have started after update to new Uber app (which now predicts destinations too)? Deleted Uber app, but problem persists.

This is a very useful widget, hope Apple sorts this out soon.

I can confirm that the Maps Destination widget now no longer displays travel time information; by pressing the widget it will redirect to Maps and the app will show travel time. 3D Touch on Maps will not display the information either as it had done previously. I have seen this before in the widget, with only an icon and label - it seems to persist for a few days then corrects itself.

Additionally, Up Next widget will also display travel time information on events which are in Calendar, alas Maps Destination will not. Most probably a bug in 10.1 and 10.1.1.

For work and home travel times, I use Google Travel Times widget as a fall back.
