iPhone 7 sounds muffled to others when I call

This hasn't helped me, this is my second iPhone 7 with the same issue. The microphone barely picks up anything..

Could it be a jet black issue?

Any other solutions? I've tried everything including erasing the device

I had the same problem and it was the case I was using. Out of the case the phone was fine, but when in the case the sound was muffled.

After trial and error I found that it was due to the front cover of the case ( Book type case) when folded onto the back of the phone to make holding easier caused some feedback issues.

When the front cover was not folded over the back of the phone the sound was fine even when in the case. So it is a case issue not the phone in my experience.

It started on my iPhone 6plus that was 2-1/2 years old, and my battery was wearing down, so I bought a new iPhone 7plus. Now I'm on the 3rd- 7plus in the RED. I've tried all of the trouble-shooting online. Phone company has reset my Mobile Identification Number (MIN) number, replaced my SIM card twice, and tried all sorts of other fixes, to no avail. Can anyone offer a solution before I go try another new phone. The phone company said Apple is aware of the problem.

I've had this on my 7 Plus from new. Had the handset replaced once which appeared to solve the issue but I'm now getting the same complaints from people I phone that I sound muffled. Resolution for me was virtually the same as at least one other post - to turn off phone noise cancellation, as follows:

Settings / general / accessibility, then scroll down to 'hearing' and turn off 'phone noise cancellation'

I'm running iOS 10.3.1 so older softwares could be different. Note, this resolution doesn't turn on 'hearing aid mode which has been posted as another solution.

Apple's phone noise cancellation circuitry must be a little over enthusiastic (to say the least).

I have this same issue and it is also my second iPhone 7!

However my iPhone is in the colour rose gold so maybe not just a jet black issue.

I have also tried everything it still has not fixed the problem so I guess I'm going to have to book a Genius Bar appt again.

I don't see any answers from Apple. I've tried all of the above and people are still compaining. If I put the phone on speaker and speak straight at the microphone it's OK. What is Apple doing about this? I'm on iOS 10.3.3

I am on my 2nd iPhone plus 7 it's the worst phone I ever owned can't wait until my contract is up. From the beginning no one has been able to hear me. It's very frustrating. They keep saying they cant find nothing wrong with it. They should go on the internet and see all the complaints for the same problem. I'm probraly done with apple theres better cheaper phones out there that actually work.

Sorry, you've not had a good experience, but this is a user to user forum for people to seek help from other users. Do you have a question, or did you just want to let everyone know you're probably done with Apple. If it's the latter, this isn't the place to do this.

Not sure if you have noticed but it does this when in the left hand holding it against your face versus the right hand. I’ve tested that many times with different iPhones... I hate that Apple hasn’t fixed this issue yet! My last 3 iPhones did the same thing

I've had the same problem since I got my 7 plus, had it replaced twice. I have to wait until contract runs out get something else. I was a Apple lover until this phone. 8 iPads and mini s and iPhone up to 7 plus. People can't hear me I sound like I'm in a tunnel I've asked everyone I can think of if you find a solution please let me know

I've had two iPhone 8's and the switched to an iPhone 7. I had so many complaints about sounding muffled. I just returned the 7 today and got my old 6 back and now I sound fine again. They tried everything. At this point I don't know what to do. Battery lasting an hour.

I just had two 8's and then tried a 7. Same issues! Returned 7 today and went back to my 6 and now people said I sound better again. Only thing is battery dies in an hour. I want to also know what the issue is here?
