iPhone 7 sounds muffled to others when I call

I too, have the muffled sound and some people say I'm in a barrel. Bi can actually hear the phone fading in and out. It's really frustrating. It started on my iPhone 6plus that was 2-1/2 years old, and my battery was wearing down, so I bought a new iPhone 7plus. Now I'm on the 3rd- 7plus in the RED. I've tried all of the trouble-shooting online. Phone company has reset my Mobile Identification Number (MIN) number, replaced my SIM card twice, and tried all sorts of other fixes, to no avail. Can anyone offer a solution before I go try another new phone. The phone company said Apple is aware of the problem.

Is there anything covering the microphone?

All new iPhone's out of the box have a plastic cover protecting the screen during transit. Did you remove it?

It is more muffled on speaker with or without a case. There isn't anything covering the microphone part.

I actually tried multiple things (called applecare, reset phone, turned phone on and off) with no luck and had researched all day long and found nothing about it.

Right before I was about to do a return and replace for my iPhone 7+ through apple, I rummaged through the settings app and found a setting which fixed my issue, which sounds similar to yours.

I had to to turn on the Hearing Aid Mode switch which turns off the Phone Noise Cancellation switch.

HOW TO:

Go to Settings / General / Accessibility / Hearing Devices / - and turn on the Hearing Aid Mode switch, which then turns off the Phone Noise Cancellation switch.

This worked for me! 🙂🙂

Same phone, same issue! Nothing has worked for mine. ....Any updates?
