iPhone 7 with Aux?

iPhone 7 with Aux?

With my iPhone 5s, I have been using the headphone port to connect it to my car stereo using the "aux" input. This allows me to charge the phone via a Lightning to USB connection at the same time.

It seems that I will not be able to do this with the iPhone 7. In other words, I could either use the Lightning to headphone adapter that comes with the iPhone 7 to connect to my stereo aux input, or I can charge the iPhone via Lightning to USB, but I can't do both at the same time.

Any suggestions on how to solve this problems, or am I misunderstanding how the iPhone 7 will work?

There is no solution AS OF NOW. Hopefully Apple will come out with an adapter! Good luck!!!

Even if Apple comes out with an adapter, it's unlikely that they will have one out much before Belkin.

Interesting. I see that it shows using iPhone 7 (Lightning) headphones plus charging, but does it also provide 3.5mm aux out plus charging?

The Belkin does not allow charging and using standard headphones at all. only Lightning headphones. So it does not address this issue at all. Maybe another 3rd party will release one that does, maybe Belkin will.

I think it could. Plug the Apple provided adapter into the Belkin adapter then the standard headset/RCA cable into that. Bit of a kludge, I grant you.

Personally, I'd only be using this set up on long car trips. I already have the phone plugged into two different cords. So, for me, this wouldn't be too much of a difference. But, I agree, it is completely lacking in elegance.

Many years of working on stage has made me very wary of adaptors, they are always a kludge, 2 of them is just deepening the kludgehole.

I wouldn't put them in a car onstage either.
