I bought a pair of these headphones mostly for airline travel. I love them on the ground - I'm no audiophile but they seem very good to me.

However, when I fly the headphones start to pick up feedback in the form of a sort of drum beat (2-3 per second). It's made worse if I sit back in a business class seat (I fly both Emirates and BA and their business class seats sort of wrap around you). I can stop the feedback merely by lifting the headphone off my hear for a moment. The feedback starts by itself again after a couple of minutes. If I cup the headphone with my hand the feedback starts immediately and does not stop when I remove my hand.

Apple are going to repair them, which of course is great news for me.

However, I am curious as to whether I am unlucky (seems that way as I can't find anyone else reporting this) or is this actually an issue for other frequent flyers and my Apple repair won't achieve anything as there is a design issue.

Apple did not design these, they market them in conjuncture with Nobel prize winning beatz masta Dr. Dre who did not design them either.

The headphones themselves are generally reviewed in audiophile magazines as "costume jewelry"or simply "garbage" and notoriously fare worse than cans costing hundreds less. Inherent problems include poor manufacturing, inferior parts, audio issues. Despite the fact Apple has replaced the Beats Pill for a potential fire hazard (and not just because you were dropping Wu-Tangs first joint while wearing parachute pants) this product will likely not be repaired for flaws in audio reproduction by Apple. I suggest considering Seinheiser or Sony or Koss
