Latest version of Flash Player for 10.6.8?

Hi. I currently have Flash Player 22.0.0.209 installed. I see that v23 (the latest) requires OS 10.9 or later. Is the version I have installed the last update that will work w/ OS 10.6.8?

Final Cut Pro 6, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Mac Pro

Yes, I did see the link for v23.0.0.162 but the system requirements say it's for OS X 10.9 or later which is why I didn't download it. But you're saying it's compatible w/ OS X 10.6.8?

Yes, it appears to be compatible. However, I should point out that I DLd it booted to my Mountain Lion, from the link I gave you, and used the one for sys admins, which allows the installation on any connected drives (sadly, this is being discontinued at the end of the month.) When it's finished installing in one volume, you just use "change install location" to install to another. I have partitions with 10.6, 10.8 and 10.9.

When I installed it on my 10.6, it didn't complain that this version wasn't allowed, which leads me to believe that it is compatible.

I will have to try sometime later to see what happens when I try to install the one from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ directly, while booted to my 10.6. Although I don't see why there would be a problem.

I'm not seeing "sys requirements 10.9" anywhere on the page from that link, and I'm currently booted to my 10.8.

But I guess v48.0.2 is probably more secure?

Yes, absolutely more secure. By remaining with an older version, you are missing important security patches. I'm running the FF 45 ESR/Extended Support Release (45.3, very soon to be updated to 45.4), which keeps the same UI until end of life (sometime mid-2017), but installs all the security patches the regular versions get.

It's not just for groups or businesses. Ignore that. If you want it, which I wholeheartedly recommend:

You may also be interested in using Classic Theme Restorer, which gives many UI and tabs options, not available since the hideous rollout of Australis (was that 29?) I have the privacy tab directly in my FF menubar, so I can clear out specific cookies.

Mozilla has ended or is ending (Mozilla issued one current update for Firefox 48) support their browser on OS X Snow Leopard through OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion

It will end with some last version of FF 48.

You can update to the latest FF 48 version and install the latest Adobe Flash Player.

OR

Do a search for Mozilla's Firefox ESR program. It is a slightly older version of FF (FF 45.x) and is a security update version only of FF.

Disregard all of the enterprise and educational institutional stuff.

You can download, install and run the Firefox ESR versions.

You can still use the latest Adobe Flash Player, but Mozilla is not offering anymore feature updates for FF users still on 10.6-10.8.

Only security updates until April 2017.

Your only other option for a web browser that is still supported for OS X 10.6-10.8 and later is SeaMonkey.

Do a search for the

SeaMonkey project

I don't have any links handy.

Good Luck!

Wait until the 45.4 ESR is out, which corrects a serious vulnerability when updating addons. Patches for a possible (though unlikely) MiTM (Man in the Middle Attack.)

Should be out today or tomorrow.

Actually, here it is now. Good for 10.6 through 10.8 until mid-2017. Works fine on my 10.6.

Thank you for all the links (including your 'critical update' link from an earlier reply). This is all new info for me. Will check everything out.

When I click this link

https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

System requirements is displayed directly below the version number on the left and when I click that, that's where it says Mac OS X v10.9, or later.

When I go that link, I also see that. I think you should just disregard that and see what happens when you try to install it. If it won't download or install, then get it from the other link I gave you.

After that, just go to Sys Prefs>Flash Player>Updates, which will show what version is installed.

Running FF 48, or whatever the current, regular version is now, is as far as I know out of the question, since Mozilla no longer supports Firefox for 10.6 through 10.8, beginning 8/16. So you're stuck with the version you're currently running (not safe) or going to the ESR.

Thanks for the additional info. I think I will look into switching to the ESR version of Firefox, considering the recommendation from you and MichelPM. And I guess I will just try updating my version of Flash Player w/ the latest one (as you suggest) and see how it installs and performs. I trust if it proves problematic I can uninstall it and revert back to the version I've been using. Just want to take some time and read over everything really well.
