CarPlay Maps not going into night mode

I'm on 10.1.1. Night mode works just fine on the Kenwood system in my car. Has since before iOS 10 came out. The illumination wire IS connected on my system.

If it's not connected on yours, before you beat your head agains the wall any more, go back to your installer and tell them to fix it.

I am sure its not the wire with mine because it does go into night mode durring the day when I go into tunnels and my headlights come on. But for some reason it will not do it at night. So if it was a wire that was not connected then it should never work.

Agreed. My Alpine head unit is wired to the vehicle dimming and DOES dim at night. But no iOS night mode without my temporary work around posted previously. I further tested last night. iPhone will not go into night mode regardless. I live in the woods and it gets very dark. If I trick the phone to navigate somewhere it goes into night mode. But not on its own. Connected or not connected to the Alpine head.

So then the dimming wire ideas for the unit itself and not setting night mode in the app? If that is the case, then it has to be an apple issue. I'm thinking I'll call apple support...

Still no resolution with iOS 10.2. Maps still does not go into dark mode when the headlights are on, but the phone does as soon as it's unplugged from the car.

I have success. Worked first time without me having to do any workaround. We'll find out tonight if it's real or just an anomaly. Stay t

As promised here is my final comment to this group. It is night here and my CarPlay nav instantly went into night mode. Seems 10.2 fixed the defect for me. If you are not having success, try the usual things like full reboot. Turn the head unit off and back on. See if it switches to night mode if you plot a route.

For me it didn't solve anything. I'm actually on 10.2.1 beta. There only thing I can think of is that the dimmer wire in my radio doesn't appear to be connected by what the radio does when set to sync with lights. I called apple and they couldn't tell me if that had anything to do with ether issue and neither could JVC when I called them. I guess I will go back to best buy and have them make sure it's installed to rule that possibility out.

I have both a 2016 Civic and a 2017 Accord Hybrid. When choosing a destination and hitting 'go'. I cannot get 'always facing up' to work as it works fine on my phone alone. They have North as always up and it always zooms all the way out to an overview. So every time I pick a destination I have to zoom all the way in again. But when I hit the go button now North is always up. I cannot change this at all. If I hit the details button on the cars screen there is a speaker there for the volume. Not a direction arrow as when I am just viewing the map with no destination or guidance. Very frustrating. Do any of you have this issue. I have this issue with two iPhones and the two new cars I listed. Same thing on both. This all happened after iOS 10.2 last week

Yup, this does work for me. Annoying, but it's a workaround until Apple or Hyundai fixes it. Well, if they fix it...

I have this exact problem and like all the others, my car is a 2017 Hyundai Elantra with CarPlay. Please fix ASAP!!!
