Safari crashing after update to Safari 10 on El capitan

I just updated Safari through the App Store on El Capitan. Now it opens for about 10 seconds and crashes just as it starts loading the pages.

I tried removing the new version of Safari with sudo and dropping in the last version (9.1.3) from a back up I made yesterday, but now that one behaves the same and crashes at start up.

I cant even re-download Safari 10 in the App store because it seems to think I'm up to date. Even after deleting any Safari apps from my Applications folder.

I put Sierra on an ext HDD to give it a try first in an attempt to escape any of this buggy stuff, but i'm getting it from a simple Safari update anyway.

I've searched google and it doesnt look like anyone else is having the same problem yet.

Anyone got any ideas?

Safari loads all my tabs but whenever I right click on any image to download it it immediately crashes... no "Safari quit unexpectedly" error message appears either ... I removed the Safari preferences.plist as I saw someone suggested elsewhere but that didn't help either.

I don't have this particular problem, but I have had two kernel panics in one week since upgrading to Safari 10. I had not had a kernel panic in two years, I think. The computer became completely unresponsive and had to be rebooted from the power button.

I have a mid-2008 macbook pro fitted with an SSD. It works great, but it's a shame Apple won't let me install Sierra on it.

Goto Library (Option+Go>Library>Safari) and erase cthe whole " Safari" folder

Log out and relaunch Safari. If this doesn't work then I would suggest to change browser

As this problem has been around on several OSX recent versions and corresponding Safari versions.

There is a swarm of postings with Safari crashing...in the past 24 months. This is a serious problem I wonder why

Apple doesn't fix it..

Hope it helps
