iOS10 WiFi Keeps forgetting hidden network

I had this problem too, and discovered a solution only by accident. When choosing the network security, instead of WPA, I accidentally clicked on WPA2 and since then my phone has joined the hidden network automatically. I can't tell you why, by maybe this will help others?

The only solution I could find for this was to go in & change my network name & password on my home wifi. This worked for me. What did NOT work for me was resetting network settings, then after that didn't work, trying to update to IOS 10.3.3, then after that didn't work, I selected "forget this network". None of these things worked & I would caution anyone trying to "forget this network" bc I'm not sure that is reversible. Anyways, after sitting on chat for 2 hours with no help, they wanted me to reset factory settings or take my phone in for repair. I decided to go a different route & tried my own option of renaming network & changing password & that worked! Hope it helps someone & avoids any more wasted chat time & money on repairs of overages!

Why is marked as solved?

This has been a persistent problem for a year now.

I have an iPhone 5s OS 10.3.3 and I cannot connect to my work's hidden network. The above solution that is marked as "solved" does not work.

Can someone finally help?

The OP said that restarting the phone and resetting network settings fixed it for him or her. That is all the Solved tag means. If it didn't work for you perhaps you have a different problem. I do not have a solution, because I don't have the problem. I rarely connect to hidden networks, but when I do they remember me. (My daughter has one in her house; I don't visit that often, but when I do my phone connects.)

Please help. Resetting the wi-fi setting has no effect. I still have to manually enter SSID every time my iPhone 5s leave the network area or after some period of connection.

Already updated to iOS 11 and there's no change at all regarding this issue.

My wife's iPhone 5s and my iPad Air (both A7 devices) have this problem: they "forget" the wifi network's name (it's hidden) and password and don't auto join it anymore. My iPhone 6 (A8) doesn't have this problem. Weirder still is that my iPad never leaves the house and thus, is never away from the access point's (Airport Extreme 3rd gen) reach.

My wife is usually slow to catch wind of it when it happens, and unknowingly wastes all her cellular data allowance for the month. It's extremely frustrating and has been happening since iOS 10, I think. This problem is still alive and kicking on iOS 11.

I've tried everything and nothing has worked. I'm at my wit's end.

Phone doesn't auto connect to the hidden Wi-Fi. Resetting network and restarting phone do not help. Many have reported this issue. The Apple support team should be able to easily replicate this problem in-house. Then, they can provide the fix or workaround for this issue.

I have this exact same issue on my 5s. A reset of network settings did not help. Every day I come to work and must manually reenter my wireless SSID and password to connect.

This was not an issue until I upgraded to iOS 10. I have upgraded to many previous iOS's in the past and have never had this issue until now.

I have the same problem after upgrading to ios10 on my iphone 5s.

I'm getting this issue with both my 5S and iPad Mini 3. My workplace SSID is hidden but is a known network on both devices. The sequence of events is:

1. In Wifi Settings, select Other

2. Enter SSID

3. After a delay, "Unable to join network" message appears

4. Tap Cancel, and it joins the network anyway(!)

5. After an hour or so the connection drops and I have to go back to Step 1.

I've tried rebooting and resetting network settings on both devices with no effect. I'm also finding Bluetooth on the 5S to be almost useless, it cannot connect to a heart rate monitor and earphones at the same time without the HRM dropping connection. All this was fine under iOS 9. I hope Apple can fix this in a speedy update as it's costing me a fortune in mobile fees.

I Have the same problem on 5s ios10.0.2.

Restarting, resetting network settings works temporarily, then the issue recurs. Never experienced this problem in years
