iOS10 WiFi Keeps forgetting hidden network

I am on iPhone 5S iOS version 10.0.1 on T-Mobile network. At my work place we have hidden wifi network. It was working fine. But after my upgrade to iOS 10, the phone keeps forgetting the hidden network every time it goes another wifi network (say at home). My other colleagues who has iPhone 6 or 6s does not have any issues. Any help is appreciated.

Exactly same issue here on iPad Air and iPhone 5s, both with latest iOS update. Nothing of the tipps from this thread helped.

The issue is VERY annoying. Apple finally should get his a*s up and support their longterm customers and fix stuff like this, instead marking this problem as solved while it clearly is not. Calling Apple was same frustrating as reading this thread.

Since around the time Steve Jobs died (regardless if this is the reason or not) the direction of the company is not the direction i expect from Apple. After 12 years of being a happy customer, i slowly start thinking it is time to leave the Apple road and look for some alternatives, while every hour typing in my hidden WLAN again...

I have been hit by this problem ever since I upgraded to iOS 10. I have two iPhone 5's and a 5c.

My latest 5S was brand new out the box very recently, and it has the same problem. I have been bouncing back and forth with Apple support since reporting the problems. I have already taken my phone to an Apple shop and it passed all diagnostic test. My latest email from an apple super engineer has suggested that I have a hardware fault, should I take all 3 phones in????

I feel Apple are well aware of the problem, and are just giving us loyal customers the run around.

I'm experiencing the exact same behavior on my 5s running iOS 10.3. iPhone remembers the credentials once typing in the hidden SIDD name and hitting Cancel. Older iOS versions reconnected fine to known hidden networks. This regression is frustrating since I inadvertently start to use my cell provider's bandwidth when at home before remembering that I now have to "always" remind my phone of my wifi network's SIDD name. Please Apple, fix this regression. Thanks.

The only solution I could find for this was to go in & change my network name & password on my home wifi. This worked for me. What did NOT work for me was resetting network settings, then after that didn't work, trying to update to IOS 10.3.3, then after that didn't work, I selected "forget this network". None of these things worked & I would caution anyone trying to "forget this network" bc I'm not sure that is reversible. Anyways, after sitting on chat for 2 hours with no help, they wanted me to reset factory settings or take my phone in for repair. I decided to go a different route & tried my own option of renaming network & changing password & that worked! Hope it helps someone & avoids any more wasted chat time & money on repairs of overages!

The OP said that restarting the phone and resetting network settings fixed it for him or her. That is all the Solved tag means. If it didn't work for you perhaps you have a different problem. I do not have a solution, because I don't have the problem. I rarely connect to hidden networks, but when I do they remember me. (My daughter has one in her house; I don't visit that often, but when I do my phone connects.)

Hello prasenjit.oracle,

I see from your post that your iPhone is not able to automatically re-connect to a hidden Wi-Fi network after you connect to a different network like your home Wi-Fi. I know this is a convenient feature, so I can see why you'd be reaching out for some help to resolve this. I'm happy to provide some direction!

As a first step, I'd recommend that you restart your iPhone before testing for the issue again. If the issue persists, I'd recommend that you reset network settings. To do this, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before.

Cheers!

I'm getting this issue with both my 5S and iPad Mini 3. My workplace SSID is hidden but is a known network on both devices. The sequence of events is:

1. In Wifi Settings, select Other

2. Enter SSID

3. After a delay, "Unable to join network" message appears

4. Tap Cancel, and it joins the network anyway(!)

5. After an hour or so the connection drops and I have to go back to Step 1.

I've tried rebooting and resetting network settings on both devices with no effect. I'm also finding Bluetooth on the 5S to be almost useless, it cannot connect to a heart rate monitor and earphones at the same time without the HRM dropping connection. All this was fine under iOS 9. I hope Apple can fix this in a speedy update as it's costing me a fortune in mobile fees.
