Macbook Pro overheating because Mac OS Sierra

My Late 2014 MacBook pro 13 inch has been overheating since installing Sierra. At 10 minutes it is warmer than normal, at 20 minutes it is too hot to have on your lap. Opening and running a partition with el capitan does not cause overheating after an hour. Does anyone else have this problem? SMC Fan Control says it is running at 137 degrees fahrenheit.

I hate to break it to you Csound1, but software can most certainly damage or burn up hardware. If you have a runaway process(es) that cause the fan to run excessively due to heat and it continues, it can (note keywords...can, could) burn up the motherboard, with the fan running like that, it could burn out the fan and if it burns out before the motherboard gets burned up and you don't pay attention to the heat your machine is producing, the motherboard will burn out because the fan couldn't do it's job.

Fantasy.

Sorry Csound1, not fantasy, but it is fact that software can cause hardware issues. It's nothing against Apple if you're defensive because we have said something about Apple, because that isn't the case. I'm a die hard Apple fan and an IBM'er for 25+ years. Every product can have an issue and software can most certainly cause hardware issues.
