So Safari Stand doesn't work with Safari 10

I'm hoping the http://hetima.com/safaristand/ site will update to Sierra asap. Given how may apple users have complained over the years about Apple dropping the favicons from it's tab bars you'd think it would listen and bring them back in the new Safari version!

Anybody know of any other way to bring back favicons to Safari tabs?

There are other password managers available.

Also, I think it may be possible to do in-app as I seem to remember a password option )or at least seeing it mentioned somewhere) but I didn't want every password imported so I went the long way around.

There is something about it here which I hope might be of some help:

safari stand does in fact work w/el cap. Like yourself, I wouldn't of upgraded otherwise.

Unfortunately everything I've read says the annual updated OS, MacPlanned Obsolesce or whatever it's called now, as well as Safari 10 do not work with SS.

Depending on the year of the mac you're on, you aren't missing much upgrading. If you like Yosemite, stay with it. The ultimate goal is to phase you out of your hardware. Whatever they say the minimum hardware requirements are for the OS, I'd stop a couple years ahead of it and stop upgrading.

At a minimum since the annual deadline is now the priority ahead of properly QA'ing the OS releases, I wouldn't update to the new version at least a few months after it's released. Just my .02.

As if to add insult to injury, I just discovered that upgrading to El Capitan has completely deleted a year's browsing history!

You would think that as Safari gived people the option of keeping their browser history for a year (or longer) that Apple might consider that some people do actually keep their browser history and value it for their own good reasons.

Granted, it is still there as El Capitan now used history.db and history.plist is still there but there does not seem to be a way of importing it, even using another browser as an intermediary; i.e. importing from, say old Safari to Chrome and then Chrome to new Safari.

I'm even gladder that my Mac and I are getting old and sooner or later, I can forget all about having the way I try to do things being dictated by a corporation.

I cannot believe that there wasn't even an option to import the old history.

Apple, we are done.

I tried the latest version on the link which requires you to boot into recovery PARTITION mode to disable System Integrity Protection by putting csrutil disable; reboot into terminal command. I did this and the iMac rebooted as soon as I hit enter but I couldn't install SIMBL exactly as before as it said System Integrity Protection was preventing this... see screen shots.

er, I guess that's as far as I got

so I tried again and managed to install Safari Stand [used comma instead of semi colon in Terminal]… Safari stand appeared but the favicon box was ticked but greyed out…also Safari crashed… tried reopening a few times and got some messages [see grabs]… restarted a few more times and guess what, Safari stand now appears to work properly WITH THE FAVICONS BACK !!!!… and the warnings no longer appear… BUT Safari crashes a lot if I have a lot of tabs open… took a crash report….

I just discovered this myself late last night but it was a lot to take in with the suggestion that a new version of SIMBL be installed.

Via a bit of Time Machine juggling, I managed to get back to Safari 9.1.3 without losing all the other system and document changes between times - it wasn't possible to simply restore Safari. But since doing so, I have found that App Store is relentless at trying to force me to update and will not let me hide the update as is possible with other applications.

I would, however, consider going down the new SafariStand route and update to Safari 10 if there was a way to import my history from Safari 9 because last time, it disappeared. If Apple give people the option to save their history for up to a year (or even indefinitely), they ought to recognise that people might actually want to keep their history when they upgrade and not simply wipe ite out.
