Fullscreen not working after upgrade; OSX crashes

Immediately after upgrading latest El Capitan to Sierra, fullscreen feature stopped working to a disastrous ends. Not only can't i enter or exit fullscreen mode on any application (Safari, iBooks, Terminal, etc), but moreover, i can't event start any application that was in fullscreen mode prior to upgrade (essentially every other application i use on my mac). Neither can i three-finger-swipe to any of fullscreen applications. OSX just crashes and shows login screen like it hasn't booted.

Effectively, my mac is useless now, i can't do anything with it. I tried restarting PRAM, tried to repair my disc, tried various "usual" things, none of which worked. Can anybody help me with this?

I had this issue as well. After a long and very effective session with Apple support, which involved retrieving logs and sending them for analysis, the problem was traced to IBM's Trusteer Rapport system extension, which was recommended for installation by a bank. After disabling the extension, my Mac stopped crashing when taking a window or video to full screen.
