I've just upgraded to macOS Sierra and I have an issue with switching languages.
I have English and Russian options, but I need to make Cmd+Space more than one time to switch the language, and when I do so, I may get the US icon in the status bar, but the language is switched to Russian and vice versa.
Any thoughts on how to solve this?

So I checked and it is macOS Sierra.
But after restarting my computer this works again and I can now switch from language to language withe the usual way cmd+space key. It was just stuck for some reason and it was showing only English. Now it is all fine again.

Of course nobody has been addressing bugs in Sierra for a long time already, and this problem only affects some users in any case. What fixes mentioned earlier have you tried?

I have done all updates in my computer. It is pretty frustrating to not be able to do my job and no solution available.
If anyone knows how to fix this, I would appreciate it.

If you are in High Sierra, please post your problem in that forum and give all the details about what is not working right, so that people using that OS can give you help to fix it.

Mixed languages in menus doesn't really have any connection to problems with switching keyboard layouts. For the mixed languages issue, see if this helps:

Siri is disabled on my end, however I have the same issue that language switching gets disabled occasionally and I'm left with only one input language (US). Logout/reboot helps, or it solves itself in the same occasional manner from time to time. Anyone aware of the solution?
Disabling Siri wasn't helpful for me as well as creating new user. I found workaround to delete all additional languages in input method and then add them back again. This helped to make the switch work again :-)

MacOS Sierra comes up - again - with a language bug:
The update to version 10.12.5 switched to English.
Selecting another language worked, but some Finder menus still "talk" English.
Not a real problem, but it turns out that Sierra is buggy ...

I tried logging in the guest user, the switch worked fine there, though while logging back to my account the problem persisted. I really wouldn't like to create a new account as I have a lot of stuff on this one and it would be really hard to migrate to a new one.
Any ideas on how to solve it on the default one?
Actually I've noticed that typing the shift button after cmd+space helps to switch to the desired input language, but this is obviously not the permanent solution.
I found temporary solution - disable Siri in Siri settings.
