Since iOS 10 my Parrot MKI9200 looses connection

Hello,

I'm using a Parrot MKI9200 as a hadsfree kit paired with my iPhone 5s. Since the update to iOS 10 I can't use it anymore for phone calls.

First the connection will be established. The synchronization works fine. When I want to call someone, the phonecall will be handled using the MKI 9200. After a few seconds the connection between the iPhone and the MKI9200 gets lost. The MKI9200 seems to freeze and the call goes on through the iPhone (speakers).

Does anyone have the same issue?

Did Apple change anything with the BT-connection?

Guys,

I emailed Parrot support, and they know the problem and even have (temporary?) solution. @BosBill, I had the same issue - my iPhone has a problem, but my wife's doesn't (even as she has ios10 too!). Maybe the problem doesn't affect wifes? 🙂

Below is an email from Parrot Technical Support (and that explain why @Lenny1897 solution didn't work for me - you have to do all steps without connecting your iPhone with the Parrot):

We are aware of this issue occured with Apple last update, IOS 10.

Parrot development team is also informed of the situation, but actually, as the issue is directly linked to Apple update, we are expecting a new update from Parrot.

In the meantime, can you please try the following :

Step 1: Open the Settings app and go to General.

Step 2: Scroll to the end of the page and choose Reset.

Step 3: Tap on Reset Network Settings.

Step 4: If asked, enter your device’s passcode.

Step 5: Tap on Reset Network Settings to confirm.

Then immediatly, without connecting, reset the Mki9100 by following this step :

Press the jogweel and select = > Settings => Advanced settings => Factory Settings.

What can I add from myself, is:

1. Step 0: Click "Forget This Device" in Settings | Bluetooth | Parrot MKiXXXX | ℹ

2. Write down values from Settings | Mobile Data | Mobile Data Options | Mobile Data Network setting.

3. Turn off iCloud's KeyChain sync (Settings | iCloud | Keychain | iCloud Keychain), as if you do Reset Network Settings you'll loose all your wifi passwords (even on you mac or ipad). You can turn it on again later, after Reset.

Hi Kusmierz

Thank you for the effort, I completed every step in the above said process but found the Blue Tooth drops still. I believe the point remains, apple broke my my phone. In addition to this I found today that the maps app - directions keep shutting down. Very disappointed indeed. Do you know how to revert back to the previous operating system?

Hm, I have another problem. Calls seems to work... But Parrot turns off (definitely, with message "Good Bye") after some time, but only if connected to iPhone (or maybe after call? I don't know yet exactly, maybe it is not related). Is it just mine, or not? I can't turn it on later. I have to switch off the engine, wait few seconds and then it works...

@kusmierz: yes. Complete turning off. Sometimes, when I started my car, the parrot booted and turned off a short time after the boot. After shutdown mostly it restarted by itself for several times. WhenI was listening music via iPod, I were able to hear less than a second of the music and the parrot restarted again.

In this cases I disconnected the display for some seconds and put it back into the plug. Then the MKI9200 booted again and started synchronizing the phonebook. Also playing music with the iPod was possible.

Since the reset to factory defaults and resetting the network-settings of the iPhone I don't have this problems anymore.

Hi guys,

I also have a problem since the update - but it's the other way round for me:

Bluetooth works fine (calls and music),

BUT not the lightning connection! This wouldn't be a major issue, but it also means that the iPhone is not charging any more when connected! And that is actually a big problem.

When connecting the lightning cable, the phone connects for 5-10 seconds, then looses connection. When selecting the phone from the parrot menu, it connects agaib for 10 sec, then off again. The same when selecting the "dock" from the iPhone: 10sec, and off again.

Any ideas?

And yes: I reset both devices.

Hi guys,

I was able to solve the issue by these steps:

1) delete the iPhone from the Parrot's BT-List

2) reset the Parrot

3) reset the iPhone's network settings (make sure to shut off keychain in the iCloud menu first, otherwise you will loose all your passwords etc.)

4) restart the Parrot

5) THEN connect the iPhone

after that, BT and lightning conection worked again fine
