photoanalysisd taking large amounts of cpu
After upgrade to OS X Sierra - I'm assuming it's doing something to my photos....
Any thoughts?

The Photos app has to be launched AND be in the foreground for the process to pause. So, essentially, it only stops when you're actively using Photos, not when you're trying to work in another app.
Won't the com.apple.photoanalysisd.plist be regenerated once you start photos? if this is the case then if I use Photos then I will have to repeat, right?
Thank you for your explanation, appreciated it will give it a try?
Doesn't look like there is an answer from Apple on how to stop this other than removing Photos from the machine? Oh, I suppose I could buy a new mac, maybe that is the goal of this 'feature'?
When you click on the People icon under Albums in Photos, the center pane of the app should say how many photos have been scanned and how many are remaining.
From my experience, when you see the faces, it means that the import has completed. Are you still seeing high CPU consumption by photoanalysisd in Activity Monitor?
+1 I can confirm that photoanalysisd processes 1000 photos per hour
Disable:
sudo launchctl remove com.apple.photoanalysisd
Enable:
sudo launchctl load com.apple.photoanalysisd
Same situation on my Mac,i am using Serato Dj and my cpu is going wild, whats’ wrong Apple....? Return to P.C....? :(
I think this is just the new normal with Apple. Planned obsolescence, horrible UI, no UAT or QA, and we just have to suffer through it if we want to use their products.
