How do I fix apple TV app remote not connecting to my ATV4 it always says make sure you're connected to same Wi-Fi which I am i got it working but my sister disconnected now I can't get it working again I'm running the latest iOS 10.0.1 on my iPhone and the latest tvOS 10 on my apple TV 4

I found a fix that has solved the problem for me (it's been working for four days as I type this comment).
I went into Airport Extreme wireless options and changed 2.4GHz from Automatic to Channel 11, so the Airport doesn't rotate the channel. After doing that, my iPhone Remote app works perfectly.
Hi. Try force quitting the Remote app. Then restart Apple TV. Then open the Remote app and it should offer the chance to select Apple TV.
it shows up to start with it just won't connect and I've tried force quit multiple times and reboot both multiple times still won't connect
You may need to forget it in the ATV settings. Settings > Remotes and Devices > Remote app. Select the device and hit forget. Then you should be able to make a new connection.
I just got it working idk how it just randomly started working and I pressed forget and it worked a second time most of the time it doesn't work
also another remote app I use fails to connect most times maybe it's my WiFi bc it works now as well
Try to unplug the ATV for 30 secs then reply and see what ya got
