Can't move photos to computer after upgrade to iOS10

Yesterday my iPhone updated to iOS 10 and now when I plug my phone into my PC (HP m6w103-dx / Windows 10 / iTunes 12.5.1.21) the computer will ba-bleep once, iTunes will sync, the phone will charge but I no longer get access to the photos folder through Windows Explorer. The phone doesn't show up in Windows File Explorer and I don't get the second ba-bleep that I normally got prior to the upgrade.

I rebooted both the phone and the computer, then tried again with no luck. I emailed myself the photos that were on my phone, deleted all of them from the Camera Roll and then took some new photos and tried again. Still no luck. Help!

Read the article, but it specifically states that it is specific to when iTunes won't recognize the device. I am having no problems with iTunes connecting, backing up and syncing my phone.

I did, however, go through the seven steps that are listed:

1. Latest version of iTunes? Yes. 12.5.1.21

2. Latest version of Windows? Yes. Windows 10 Home v.1607

3. Device is turned on? Yes.

4. Trust this computer? Not appearing on phone.

5. Try different USB ports/cables? Yes and yes.

6. Restart computer and iPhone? Yes and yes.

7. Try another computer? Yes, same result.

Home Sharing was enabled on my phone, but was not enabled on iTunes\ even though I know that I had it enabled before. Strange. I enabled it in iTunes and noticed that it is specific to sharing my files on the local network... which has not been a problem. Enabling Home Sharing in iTunes did not solve this problem, I still don't have access to the photos folder through my computer when I plug the phone in via USB.

I was hoping the following section (near the bottom of the article) can help you reinstall the driver:

Manually update the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver

I'm out of ideas if that does not help.

I am having the same issue - I have removed and re-installed the USB driver - no impact. Tried different ports - no impact. My iPhone - which I was smart enough not to update to ios 10 - does still get recognized in Windows Explorer. It is specific to the ios 10 devices. No issues syncing to iTunes but the device is not seen outside of that by windows anymore. (current release of ios 10 as well as current release of Windows)
