Macbook pro late 2008 won't upgrade to mac os Sierra. Why hasn't Apple added support for these computers?

Sadly, I am not happy with this situation. I see not supporting software, but not supporting overpriced hardware is not a good business model. The reason that I have been loyal to Apple is because their products work and last. Unfortunately, they are going to force me to purchase and if every few years I need to purchase. It might as well buy a PC.
I believe this happens to the PC industry as well. The computer industry is just another business and is always trying to beat its competition. We, as customers, must decide if we want the added bells and whistles that go along with the new O/S or H/W. Personally I would like to see a few more added years before they count a machine out. From what I gather the current O/S make 6 year old machines un-upgradeable. Money is the bottom line.
I also have a late 2008 MacBook Pro. I don't use it that often, but I do when I travel. It still works fine for what I need it for, however, I'm still on Mavericks. Since they stopped supporting my hardware in Sierra is there ANY way for me to get El Capitan? Or does Apple drop their copies of their old OS into a black hole when they release a new one? Seems ridiculous to stop supporting hardware in a new OS and yet not allow people to update what they have to the most recent OS they can. I know, I know. It's my fault for still being on Mavericks, but as I said before I don't use it very often. I'd still like to be able to update my OS when I want to though...any ideas?
Update. Never mind. I thought I had dug enough and seen enough "Once it's gone, it's gone." replies. Just found a link to an app store download in the forums. Strange, it didn't show up when I searched "El Capitan" in the app store before. Updating now. Carry on....
You could have posted the link for others.

FWIW, there are methods to install Sierra on an older Mac. Use at your own risk.

GoodwinGG, I understand your frustration, but there is nothing forcing you to upgrade anyway. They have to cut off the hardware somewhere and modern software is getting very demanding of hardware, so the new OS had to make the cut off in a more recent hardware line than expected. This being said, I would not expect to have to buy a new Mac every couple years after a cutoff is determined. You can also probably run El Capitan happily for years to come, if you so choose. I know people that still run much older versions of Mac OSX without issues.
As far as buying a PC, you get what you pay for. Windows 10 runs games fantastically, I will give it that, but everything else is a lurching slug in chainmail, in my opinion. If you really want that, it's your choice, but I bootcamp Windows 10 and my personal opinion is that it is among the worst OS'es I have ever used. Windows 7 was much better and El Capitan blows it away. MacOS Sierra is not that big of a jump from El Capitan, so you aren't missing too much, honestly. Your call, of course. Just my two cents 🙂
Maybe there's a good reason your workplace uses non-mac machines... who's to say macs would last any longer in that environment anyway.
It is your Mac, you can do whatever you want with it.
Still good then. MacBook Pro Mid 2010, MacBookAir 2011.
Yup, they are compatible, I would increase their RAM to at least 8GB before I upgraded though.
