"Default room" in Home app?

Why can't I delete "default room" in my Home app? ...Or even change its name to something more appropriate, like "Living Room"?

iPhone 7, iOS 10

I resolved my "Could not edit room" issue. In my case the Home app setup the Philips Hue hub in the "Default Room".

I resolved the issue by moving the Philips Hue hub to another (correct) room. Long press on the device (in my case Philips Hue hub) and choose details then change the room. I could then remove or rename the Default Room.

In my case when I moved the Philips Hue hub to a new room the Default Room disappeared.

Hope this helps others.

Hi WaxingGibbous42!

I see that you are looking to change the name of your default room in the Home app. I'm glad to assist!

Take a look at the following information that goes over how to edit a room:

Edit a room. Tap User uploaded file, tap Room Settings, then choose the room to edit. You can change the room’s name, wallpaper, or delete the room.

Add and control accessories - iPhone
Additionally, this website might also have some other helpful information for you:

Cheers!

Good solutions so far and helped me heaps. Mine is slightly different and may suit someone better. Go to Default Room and long tap on the accessory/s in there and then tap "details" button. Shift the accessories to an already set up room or make a new one. The last one I had in there was the bridge itself so I just put that in "garage" and took it off the favourites list. Once default room is empty it disappears.

That's exactly the solution that DaSS_UK gave back in September.
