iPhone 7 GPS constantly changing in Maps

Is anyone having issues with GPS on the iPhone 7? In Maps, my "location" (i.e., blue dot) is jumping all around my current location. It doesn't seem to be getting a lock on my actual GPS location. I have noticed that it also affects other apps that use GPS.

iPhone 7, iOS 10

Same here. Tested with the latest iOS and also the latest beta release. Currently trying to get some information from the Apple support. On longer runs sometimes more than 1.5 km off the actual distance. Makes tracking my runs totally useless with the iPhone.

Not perfect, but at least there's no juggling every few meters which totally ruins my record. On my last sunday jog the tracked route was almost 2km off! The recorded paces were totally useless for comparison.

"Me, too." AT&T iPhone 7 256MB, matte black. I use my GPS most days, not because I need direction, but to know if I'm going to make it to work on time. Navigation has gone completely wonky a few times, including this morning on a route I take every day (previously without issue). It has happened twice before going to the same place (not the same as this morning), however the first time I was using my iPhone 5. This was a few months ago, so I THINK I was using iOS 10 at the time.

If the issue is hardware-related, it's very widespread, as it appears according to this thread that most replacements fail. So unless Apple concludes they've got a massive batch of bad GPS units (and replaces them), I'll hold out hope for a software fix.

Okay, this thread is quite long now. But, in fact, what do we really know?

GPS does not work as it should, on iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus?

Seemingly not on every device but on quite a lot (the most)?

To me that sounds like a massive hardware problem, concerning a big amount of devices. Perhaps a hugh branch manufactured by a specific supplier.

If it was a just software problem, why should the swapping of the device solve (reduce) the problem?

By heart, I am really not willing to change my phone over and over again until, in the end, I finally receice a device, that works as it should (what I payed for)!

Hi guys, so basically let me tell you what happened to me, I got my first AT&T iphone 7 plus and there was an issue with the gps as explained here, I returned it and got a new one. I had the same issue too. Yesterday I went to apple store to see somebody. The guy checked and said there was nothing wrong with it. I opened the waze app and show him the warning "seeking gps etc." Then he convinced and gave me a brand new one. In front of his eyes, I set up the phone and installed the waze, tried and it gave error as " no gps etc." I told him "look it's the same issue" then he brought his own phone which was verizon so I assume model number was 16xx but I didn't check because we were arguing that moment and his verizon phone also gave the same "seeking gps" warning. After all this I told him these phones are not working properly, and his answer was "That's a brand new phone, what else I can do" !!!.

I am from Malaysia and I have the same GPS problem on iPhone 7 plus 128GB with Intel LTE. Some sharing, I just noticed that iSmoothRun Apps just released a new version today with "partial fix for iPhone 7 poor GPS performance". Interestingly 3rd party companies are coming up with fixes earlier than Apple. Wondering if Apple don't have a good fix and asking their software partners to provide some work around

I'm having the same issue in the UK with an iPhone 7 plus. Blue dot moving around when stationary. When tracking a route they are recorded approx 20 percent longer than the actual distance travelled. Close examination of a tracked route reveals spiking some distance from the actual path taken. Never had this issue with previous iPhones.

It's obvious that this affects a lot of phones, otherwise swapping several times should help. But the degree of the problems seem to vary a lot, from "unusable for any location use" to "usable for anyone but runners". My second phone was worse than my first and third. Actually, the first phone might have been the best, but that one had an additional fault (faulty home button) anyway, so I don't regret swapping it.

The thing is, I think, that most serious runners (and cyclists) use Garmin watches or similar anyway, so the fraction of iPhone 7 owners that care a lot about having the best possible GPS may not be that large.
