iPhone 7 GPS constantly changing in Maps

Apple has today released iOS 10.0.3.

Whilst GPS is not mentioned specifically, this fixes bugs including an issue where some users may lose cellular data connectivity:

Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

This update does not solve the problem people are discussing in this thread.

I have the same problem.

It seems like the location-GPS is not working. Whenever I open a map, it finds my location, but then it refreshes and bounce to another location, and then back to my current location. It keeps doing this, even when I move around.

i got on the horn with apple support today and pointed the rep to this thread. she was surprised to see so many of us with the same issue so she elevated my case to engineering. i was told i hear back sometime this week about how to proceed since none of the troubleshooting protocols resolved the issue and the diagnostic results were unremarkable. i post updates here as i learn more. fingers crossed it's an easy software fix.

I also want to mention that I'm on Sprint as well. The majority of the phones in this thread seem to be the 128gb iPhone 7+ Matte black on Sprint.

iPhone 7, 256gb Jet Black and I'm having the same problem in Singapore as well. It's even more frustrating when the GPS is everywhere but my actual location when I'm driving and need directions from the map apps.

Certainly hoping Apple's onto this and will issue an update to fix this problem, doesn't seem like a hardware fault.

I'm on T-Mobile myself. 128 GB black iPhone 7 Plus.

I am glad the issue is resolved for you. I have noticed that sometimes and in some places GPS will only bounce me around in a very small area, and other times, by miles. (Even a very small inaccuracy would be troublesome doing turn-by-turn in city, of course.) So I would be concerned that the problem is not permanently fixed until the location is as steady as on other iphones.

Experiencing the same problem here. Bought an IPhone 7 ATT128Gb Black on the US and brought it back to Brazil. Already tried the factory reset, without success...

I have updated my Sprint iPhone 7 Black 128GB to iOS 10.0.3; I have been testing for 1 day and the GPS situation is much improved. It is important to keep in mind that GPS is not ever perfect and if you loose data connection this will impact GPS performance or performance of apps that use GPS. That said I have tested in areas that I travel every day and where I know how well GPS should perform and GPS performance appears to be back to normal for me after the iOS update... still testing though so I'll let you know if anything goes wrong later.

What model do you have? A1778?

I'm on black matte 32GB model that i bought in Germany. The GPS behaves exactly as described by others in this thread even if on clean fresh completely restored phone. I even tried going to 10.0.3 from 10.0.2 and than to latest 10.1 beta 5 - the problem still there and I guess this is a hardware bug.

I have two phones on which the 10.0.3 update did fix the GPS issue. But I have a third phone that is having hardware issues beyond that and that one will most likely get replaced. I am taking it into the Apple Store tomorrow. I suggest that if the 10.0.3 update did not work for you and you have already tried setting your phone up "as new" with the 10.0.3 update then you should take it into your carrier or Apple Store for them to look at it and probably replace it.
