How do I add a friend to game center in IOS 10?

You no longer add friends to Game Center. Now you invite people through iMessage for specific games. This behavior needs to be implemented by developers who use Game Center, so it is a per-game feature.

what was wrong with having the app!!

and having track of our downloaded games and their downloaded games

and those recommend games

and deleting any saved progress on particular game so you can start the game again from zero

So until the developers update their apps we're stuck in no man's land? Overall this just seems to separate something out that didn't need it. It removes the "social" from "social gaming" completely. 😟 I can send someone an iMessage but that doesn't add them to a game in anyway. I can send them an invite to play a game, but that doesn't seem to add them to my friends list in game in anyway as it's just a link to download the software. Apple could have rolled this out a LOT better than they are w/ out putting their users through this limbo period.

Got to say I'm astonished... been fiddling all day with settings as all friends missing from real racing app... ALL, now it seems those contacts in game CENTER are lost forever as I have no way of contacting them outside of gamecenter . This!!! Along with the nonsensical cables monetisation has taken the shine right off Apple. Epic fail, so poorly managed. 5 yrs of socially acquired best of players... Gone. I will not be purchasing an iPhone for a long time.

You can use a different device that doesn't have iOS 10 if you have another.

No you dont. The only thing the games send now is a link to play the game. It does not give a link to be friends. This update is WAY worse than the old 3 or 4 that mucked up the works. Its the beneath diapers that sat in a bag for a month with vomit, lama spit and broccoli then sat in a hot car for a week and we had to open that bag last month!

Way to go Apple(or should we start calling it Onion? iO(nion)S 10!

I wanted to add that this is causing problems because there are games that require large numbers of cooperative activity between members (100s of people). This is the kind of activity that does not work well in Messages or Facebook. It is really difficult to manage in regard to confidentiality of our personal information. Apple really has screwed us all over!

Once again, their "update" makes things obsolete and encourages those of us with devices older than 6 months to look elsewhere. This is such a forward thinking business model, Apple. I hope it goes well for you, but I, too, will never purchase another Apple product. I'm over your self inflated thinking and lack of customer service. Steve Jobs must be rolling in his grave with what is happening there. Or maybe not. I don't even care anymore.

This has been the worst thing to happen on my iPad. You know all the games I didn't login to with Facebook, that I lost all my data, all my purchases, and its total crap. Not that I planned to play those old games, but whoever said "hey lets remove our entire gaming infrastructure and just let each individual app decide. Only worst "friend system" is 3DS.

I'm so mad about this update. For the past month I have constantly been search for a way to send friend invites. I can't socialize with friends through games. I may be able to get achievements from Game Center, but no friends. Is there a way to downgrade so I can invite friends and upgrade again, or am I stuck in this update where I can't play with friends? This is an update that has hurt gamers everywhere!

By removing the Game Center app, they have completely killed my interest in iOS gaming. I will be selling my iPad Pro, and replacing it with a PlayStation 4 very soon.
