iPad Pro Keyboard "This accessory is not supported by this device"

128GB, 12.9" iPad Pro running iOS 10.1 (problem occurred with previous iOS too).

Smart Keyboard all of a sudden doesn't work. Error message "This accessory is not supported by this device".

Have cleaned contacts, rebooted, hard rebooted, and upgraded to the OS to iOS 10.1. No change.

It has randomly worked a few times, but seems random. One day couldn't type a web address in Safari, next day I could. Hasn't work a few days in a row now.

Thoughts?

Update 2 - I write this update on my new iPad Pro Smart Keyboard having had it replaced at the Apple Store. Took the replacement out of the box and connected it and instantly worked. To me, this suggests the issue is with the Smart Keyboard.

If there is any change here, I will update.

I called Apple yesterday. They are replacing my keyboard under warranty even though it is 2 years old. Try calling them.

I did a reset of my iPad with the Smart Cover attached [hold down power button and home button until ipad restarts] and now the Smart Cover works.

Blowing on the contacts (iPad and keyboard) and rubbing the keyboard contacts with a refrigerator magnet for about 30 seconds worked for me.

The reason people discuss software issues is that Apple give you nonsense make-work exercises to do like resetting your ipad to get you out of their hair.

Brilliant—solved the issue with my ipad-keyboard recogition. Took a reasonably good magnet but easy fix. Thanks!

After about an hour or so the smart board quit working again and the irritating "This accessory is not supported by this device" error message popped up again.....so much for ‘Reset All Settings’

Then an hour later the Smart Keyboard works again. Who can figure this out?
