I upgraded to macOS Sierra last night and now Silverlight is no longer working. The message on the web page keeps telling me to install/upgrade Silverlight but I have the latest version installed. It worked perfectly before I installed the new macOS. Any suggestions?

How did SILVERLIGHT get to the left column ? It is not showing in the left column . Mssg. says " Plug in can not be installed on this disk . A newer version already exists .
Where would this "newer version" be ? It is not in Downloads nor is in Applications .
I waited & waited to up grade to SIERRA .

Thanks but I have already done this, it tells me I have the latest version installed. I have also restarted Safari and also restarted my MacBook, but it has not helped.
Did you click on the System Requirements tab at the link you were given? Sierra is not supported.
Thanks for this. I'm not sure how helpful it is to know after the fact that Sierra is not supported. Do I now have to wait for Microsoft to catch up?
Read the table in the link. The dates provided are end of support dates. SilverLight is being phased out. So I doubt Microsoft will be making changes to it. But you will have to ask Microsoft. You have learned a valuable lesson. Do not upgrade operating systems until after you confirm that your required third party apps will remain compatible. It is up to the third party app developer to maintain their product at the compatibility level needed.

Open Safari preferences and go to the Security tab. Under plug-in settings, be sure that Silverlight is enabled.
FWIW, Silverlight 5.1.50709.0 does indeed work in Safari in Sierra. You need to make sure it's enabled in Safari Preferences > Security > Allow Plugins > Plug-in Settings.
It's actually the only way to stream Amazon Prime Videos in Safari because Amazon hasn't figured out how to make the Safari HTLM5 player work as of yet.
