I upgraded to macOS Sierra last night and now Silverlight is no longer working. The message on the web page keeps telling me to install/upgrade Silverlight but I have the latest version installed. It worked perfectly before I installed the new macOS. Any suggestions?

I just had the same problem and followed the advice (thanks to all the helpful posters) but also had to do the following: In 'Safari / Preferences / Security / Internet Plug-ins / Plug-in Settings...' click on Silverlight in the left column and underneath the right column ensure the box 'When visiting other websites' is set to ON. This solved my problem.
Thanks man my company for some insane reason uses silver light for everything and I couldn't ever get into our websites after then update to sierra. Way easier than reverting to capitan!
Silverlight is not included with OSX you have to download it from Microsoft. The latest version is 5.1.50709.0
