MacOS Sierra - time machine stuck preparing backup on Network devices

Since I updated to macOS Sierra, can only use my local USB drive to backup. TimeMachine is stuck with the "preparing backup" message - over 12 hours - for network devices, an Apple FileVault and another NAS device. Works fine with local USB drive.

Something funny going on with network devices as it's working for local discs.

Hope Apple take note and fix.

AFP protocol and networked Time Machine protocols are supported by Apple. The issue as reported applies to all networked Time Machines, both Apple and other vendors.

I realize your point of view, and I too am a fan of Apple and their products. Can I ask that we keep this professional and factual so that we can get to the bottom of the issue for all impacted users? I am here to get and provide help and I believe that this is true for most all of us.

Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful posts to a real problem that many users are experiencing. I am using Sophos and my workaround is to turn off live scanning, do a manual backup and turn scanning back on, not the best solution but it is working for me. I am following a thread on Sophos and they are actively working on this.

Regarding Csound1 I feel his postings on this thread are antagonistic and not helpful, in my opinion he should stop posting here. I did notice that at least one of your postings was deleted, oh, and I am an Apple fan.

Thanks again. 🙂

I still have exactly the same and many other issues.

Doing pram and smc reset doesn't work.

reinstalling macos sierra doesn't work. Possibly this would't solve any Problem and is not the Egg-Laying, milk-bearing, wooly-sow.... Software Problems are Software Problems and a chip doesn't save all Setting from Such a big System!!!

I reinstall macos Sierra - doesn't solve my problems.

What i recognize is, when the macbook goes into screensaver mode with password, time machine won't backup.

But when i disable screensaver with password, i have exactly the same problem.

Next Problem is, when i activate the option "deactivate Trackpad when a mouse is plugged in" in Access Settings, it works fine up to a reboot. After it the trackpade is active.

What the **** is Apple doing today??? The most stable OS was el capitan, since release it runs fine, never had any issues.
