iPhone 6s - iOS 10 - Phone app crashes/freezes

Hi,


Has anyone else seen freezing on the 6s after upgrading to iOS 10? I get this in the Phone app mostly, if it is run fresh it works as expected. If I click to the home screen or lock the device the app freezes next time I use it. I am not able to select any section(Favorites, Recents etc) and nothing responds by tapping or even force touch stuff. If I click home it will go to the home screen with no issues, but going back intto the Phone app has the same issues. If I double click and swipe it closed then re-open it the app works fine again. I have tried restarting my phone with no improvement. I would prefer not to have to do a full reset on it...


Maybe it is a random bug that will be fixed in the next release, I don't use the phone that often so I can live with it for now if needed. But it is kind of annoying.

Same problem, on iOS10.2.1. Dialer app freezes temporarily when making calls, causing me to have to redial several times. Very annoying and makes 6s unreliable.


I have to sync with work's Exchange server, so deleting non-Apple accounts is not an option. Reverting back to 9.x is also not an option.


For now, I've installed an alternate dialer app (Simple Dialer) and will see if this helps.


Seriously Apple... not good. Not good.

I just called Apple to let them know. They are telling me because I used my back up from iCloud I may have just transferred the problem to the new phone.


Here is my question for all of you.... Do you have an email account that was added to your iPhone using an Exchange server? I'm thinking that is the issue. I plan to contact my IT department, but wanted to get your opinions first.

OK... I upgraded to 10.2 (although I'm not sure if this would have worked in other versions). Initially, the problem still exists. I clicked on voicemail and waited for a few minutes. Eventually, the voicemail loaded. I ended up deleting all of them. And then I went to the deleted voicemail area and "cleared all". Each action took minutes. There were in total, probably between 50 to 100 voicemails. Once I finished, the entire phone app including the voicemail area are working snappily again.

Apple support told me something similar about possibly transferring the problem because I did iOS update to 10.1.7 over wifi. So I did as they suggested and did full restore to factory, then restored phone from iTunes backup and the problem persists.


I have my work email and contacts (exchange server) set up. Has been for a few years now, with no issues until recently. I've spoken to our IT guy and he didn't have any words of wisdom, other than I'm the only one who's mentioned the issue out of ~20 iphones.
