iOS 10 Black Screen Spinning Wheel

Been using iOS 10.0.1 for about a week on an iPhone 6 and it's buggy. The issues below have only occurred since upgrading to iOS 10. Please fix in next release or provide solution.

1. Random black screen with spinning wheel. The upgrade went fine, so not that black screen. But at least daily my phone becomes unresponsive and shows a black screen with spinning wheel. After 5-10 seconds I'm prompted to enter my passcode as if the device has restarted. I'm not the only person experiencing this - and even managed to capture the image below.

2 - I've enabled the 'rest finger to open' option under home screen accessibility, but this doesn't always work. Again, about once a day, resting my finger to open results in me being prompted to press the home button to unlock. Each time this has happened I've checked and confirmed that the 'rest finger to open' option was enabled.

It's due to a date bug (Dec 2nd) causing local notifications to crash Springboard. For some people, Headspace is the only app they use with local notifications so deleting that was a work around. It won't work by itself if you have other apps with local notifications. Installing iOS 11.2 is the correct solution.

Hey guys,

First time posting here because of this issue. Saw this behaviour now a couple of times on 10.0.1 and decided to go for a factory reset whilst upgrading to 10.0.2 today. After a few minutes encountered the black screen with white spinning wheel again. So even a factory reset won't do for you, I'm afraid...

Cheers

I'd like to 4th this. Wife's iPhone 6 regular is having this behavior and it's driving her crazy which means it's driving me crazy. Trying 10.0.2. Will let you know if this fixes it. Clearly an Apple problem not a "ya just gotta reset it" problem.

Don't you love the irony that Apple made ads that criticized Microsoft for having to reformat to fix slowness and issues, and yet Apple tech support's first and only answer is to reformat to fix slowness and issues?

I updated an iPhone 5c to iOS 10 a week ago.

Today, I updated a couple of Apps. The download started and shortly afterwards my Home screen froze.

I was unable to do a hard reset by pressing the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons simultaneously because the Sleep/Wake button had failed after the iOS 9 update (I was hoping the iOS 10 update would fix it).

I have discovered that Apple have an iPhone 5 Sleep/Wake Button Failure Project (https://www.apple.com/uk/support/iphone5-sleepwakebutton/) but that the Serial Number of my iPhone 5c does not qualify for the free button repair (over 3 years old?).

Now, I am left with a black screen and spinning wheel and no apparent means of getting out of this situation as nothing works.

I tried connecting to iTunes but was unable to change the situation.

At the moment, I am leaving it alone for the battery to run down to see if that will clear the problem and if it will recover when I put it on charge.

It would appear therefore, that my iPhone 5c has suffered 2 failures as a result of iOS updates.

This is not good enough and I am most unhappy with the situation.

my problem with my 7 plus persists, even with very few apps, facebook, instagram, YouTube. I've restored the software using iTunes and I've erased everything to start as a new phone. nothing works. Still closes the app and gives me the loading circle at random with any app. Very frustrating. im going to make an appointment with the apple store this weekend And hope for a new device. Even though its clearly a software issue That's happening on multiple different models. I asked an apple support representative if they are aware of any issues related to this and they say no.

My situation:

Last night after updating to 10.03, my phone became unresponsive. It was working but suddenly it stopped functioning. I tried to power down to restart and got the spinning wheel. I could not power it down. Thinking it needed to be plugged in to finish some part of the update, I left it plugged overnight. In the morning it was still spinning. I tried pressing power and home buttons simultaneously. I tried volume - and power. I plugged it into itunes to reset. It would not read. I went to icloud and find my phone. It couldn't be found.

The Fix:

I let it spin, unplugged all day until it died.

I plugged it in and let it charge a little bit, entered my passcode and it worked.
