iOS 10 - Alarm stopped working

I've upgraded my iPhone 6 to iOS 10.0.1 and ever since the update, my alarm clock no longer works. I can set an alarm, the alarm clock icon shows up in the upper RH of the screen, but when it's time to alert, nothing happens. The phone does not turn on, it does not create any sound. I've tried everything I could think of and the suggestions online, but no luck.

Another odd behavior is that even after an alarm has past (with no reaction in the phone) the icon in the upper RH remains. I can delete all alarms, the alarm icon still is present on the screen.

I've tried the new Bedtime feature thinking it my by part of the problem, but it also does not work. However, it does have some impact; if I turn on the bedtime feature, the alarm clock icon on the upper RH of the screen will go away and any alarm (on the alarm screen) that was armed gets turned off. It's as if the two are mutually exclusive meaning you can either use Bedtime or traditional alarms, but not both. Does anyone know if this is the case?

I really doubt I'll use the Bedtime feature, it's a little odd and not terribly useful for a hectic life that isn't too predictable for going to bed each night. However, losing total functionality of the traditional alarm clock is a huge disappointment.

I've tried restarting the phone; the only thing that does is make the alarm clock icon disappear (if it was stuck on from a prior alarm). It does not restore the actual vibrate / audible function of an alarm that is set.

I also deleted my iHome clock app thinking the alarms from that app might somehow be competing with the native iOS alarm function, even though they both worked fine in iOS 9.

I have a iphone 6s + and this has been an ongoing issue since version late 9ish. After the update that was supposed to fix it (10.1?) seemed to ...until today.

So I've been leery about this as I have to wake up at 5am to get kids ready for school and then at 7:45 to get myself ready and drive my youngest to the other school. Needless to say I have crazy mornings. When this happened the first time I couldn't believe it. everyone was late, 5 people due to one alarm being off. It had a cascading effect on my day. The next day my wife and I set both our alarms. This became a common occurrence and caused some serious stress of not knowing if the alarm would go off. Fast forward to 10.1? (when they stated it as a fix for that version) I no longer had that issue ...until today. Not only did mine not go off, my wife's brand new iphone 7 Plus didn't go off either. I woke at 7:14am glancing at how light the window was and it hit me, that fear ...OMG not again. I press the button on my phone and sure enough it's going off with no sound, as is my wife's phone. I force a reboot and then my alarm starts going off audibly and I force reboot hers as well. During this issue I can flip it out of silent mode, turn the ringer to max and it still won't ring. I've tested it and showed my boss and others

This is ridiculous. This is actually causing me mental stress and I'm losing money, and my children are losing sick days and time at school for being late. I think if there was a way to remove the ability for the OS to sound the alarm with just vibrate... Now time for some constructive troubleshooting. I've been using the included alarm sounds, nothing special. When it happens no sounds seem to work including ringtones and notifications. I held my button down and siri spoke, so that was weird. I did have my phone in silent mode. I did have my video sound such as website (youtube) audio turned all the way down to none. Also, I've narrowed down the potential problem apps that my wife and I both have. (If it is related to an app that is).

Pandora

Waze

Star Trek Timelines

Maybe it will help someone else narrow it down. It has something to do with software as both our phones stopped sounding at the same time. It would also have to be either the OS or these apps. The thing is I don't know of a way (for me) to set an alarm and get it to vibrate only. That is not an option, I still believe the IOS is tripping on something and it triggers the mode change. I also looked into the remote devices such as bluetooth speakers or tv etc.. My bt was on when this happened but I'm not convinced it was the issue as I had nothing that could cause it except my Samsung 4k SUHD TV but it was off.

I was also having similar issue (iPhone7, iOS 10.1.1).

This is what fixed it for me

1. Go to control panel (by swiping up from bottom of screen to get to page that shows to Airplane mode etc.)

2. Swipe left to go to the 2nd page

3. Check that it's "not stuck" on an app ... should be "Music"

In my case it was stuck on Shazam. I had to uninstall Shazam to "unlock" my speakers and then alarms started working again.
