Mail attachments disappeared with Sierra

Same problem. 10,12.1 does not address

I finally spoke to a senior tech rep at Apple this morning and explained the problem that I was having: mail attachments not showing up and mail hanging and crashing alot after upgrading to Sierra. He did a screen share with me and noticed that I had Avast Free Mac security running. He suggested that I test turning off the mail shield to see if that was causing the issue. I did that and then re-started my computer and so far so good. Mail does seem to be running smoother. I checked with Avast to see if there is any update that might address compatibility issues with Sierra but have not heard back yet. I don't know if any of you have this installed but if you do, might be worth turning it off and seeing if your mail issues disappear.

I also run Avast. Will try your suggestion . Nice spot by the tech if this turns out to be the issue.

I am not running Avast and I have still the issue!

I also DO NOT run Avast – or anything else of that nature – and I still have the missing attachments issue. It has always been intermittent with no pattern that I have been able to discern, I can see how you might think it's ok when an attachment comes through, but mostly they are not coming through.

No Avast here, or any Mail plugin or add-on. I've never run any plugin or add-on with Mail in the past.

I have not seen any crashing or unexpected quits in Mail.

For me, it's not intermittent, every email sent from my Apple ID iCloud account (with iCloud as the sending server) does not show attachments in Mail. The attachments do show if I access the same email in iCloud Mail in Safari. Of course, that requires that the email be in an iCloud mailbox. Emails sent from one of my POP accounts are not affected.

As I detailed above, moving one of the affected emails to the Inbox, then rebuilding the Inbox for my Apple iCloud account will make the attachments show up, but only temporarily.

I remain convinced that this is a bug in macOS Sierra Mail that affects only the display of attachments, and, as far as I've read, only for IMAP accounts.

Same here, i receive the emails and they show the attachment icon clip but there are no attachments to download. Does anybody have a fix yet?

I have the problem of not finding my attachments on incoming mail with Mac OS Sierra. This is frustrating and I had to download the attachment with another device ( iPhone).

So its either no attachments come in, or 1/2 of them come in. And its all sorts of attachments, .tiffs, .pdfs. They are available on my devices, iPhone, etc., and if I log into my email from the web, just not on the mail app. Which I use everyday until it became unreliable.

It's high time to say goodbye to Apple Mail app...

I have this issue. In my experience, GoDaddy email servers haven't worked well with Apple software, so I'm interested in learning if the folks having this problem are using GoDaddy as the host server?

I do not use GoDaddy for a server. I use Apple's iCloud for my only IMAP account. My POP accounts are not affected.

Try this work around:

Go to mail preferences

Click on your email account on the left

Click on "Server Settings"

Unclick, "Automatically manage connection settings" under "Incoming Mail Server"
