Iphone 7 camera very slow to capture

HI everyone. Got the iphone 7 256gb 1 week already. I find the camera focusing speed is acceotable but a tad slower than 6s. However what i find most disturbing is that after i press the shutter button it takesa very long time to capture the image resulting in missing the nice shot of my kidd or slightly blurry images. I compared it side by side with the iphone6 plus. Then 5s snd 5. Results were disturbing. Even my 5 of 4 years captured images faster overall with slower focusimg speed

Did a reset using itunes on pc snd clean install again and also using recovery as suggested by apple chat. Still the same. searched on youtube on speed tests and note 2 reports thatthe 7's canera is laggy. Anyone with issues? Is it hardware or software? please advise. Btw also on latest ios 10.0.1

The 7 is not as responsive to clicking the capture button, and there is a definite lag once you've pressed it. This is terrible terrible news for those of us that have honed our sense of timing to capture clear images. I used to get great low light shows on my 6 if I held camera reasonably still, because I could anticipate the moment the subject would be still and the capture was instant. Now the capture happens about 1/4 of a second after I press the button. Overall, a disappointing "improved" camera.

I've had 4 different iPhone 7's since it was released, two A1778's and two A1660's, on various OS updates (including one beta).

All of them exhibited this exact same behavior, and as one user mentioned above, it's subtle so most people aren't going to notice it's a problem. But the fact of the matter is the shutter is slow to capture a moving target, and it doesn't help the photo at all. It does seem to be more in lower or mixed-light scenarios, but it's incredibly annoying and unlike any prior iPhone where the shutter was practically instant.

I also have given up on the 7. This wasn't the only reason, but it was a big one. I've gone back to my SE and it's reliable shooter, headphone jack, and great battery life. There is so much fanfare surrounding the iPhone 7/7+ cameras, I wish people would look at them without their rose colored glasses. I'm not convinced that the 7's camera is better than the 6S/SE's in general after having both for awhile...

Ya I agree with you this is a big issue and they say the iPhone 7 camera is amazing. I've tested it myself my iPhone 6s is way faster and better even with the photos. I also notice that when you are filing on the iPhone 7 when it is adjusting from low light to high light it is very glitchy it's not smooth. My iPhone 6s is very smooth. My iPhone 6s is amazing it's the best iPhone ever made. I'm not to happy with the iPhone 7 it's not what Apple says it is.

My wife and I both upgraded to the new 7 plus when it released. We were extremely excited for the new camera since she gave birth to our new son. It's been a frustrating ride. The camera takes great photos, but we often miss him looking at the camera of flashing us a smile, since the phone takes long to take the picture. It's slow to photograph even if we pick the focus prior to snapping the picture. The problem is on both phones. Hopefully it's a software issue and Apple fixes this soon!
