logd high cpu
MacBook Air, macOS Sierra (10.12)
I've had this problem and have noticed that I cannot see in Finder the Time Machine router that I set up as the Time Machine backups' destination drive. I tried connecting to the drive using Finder's Go menu -> Connect to Server but were unsuccessful. I tried rebooting the Time Machine router, it did not help. I rebooted the laptop and then everything worked fine again.
the logd process is gone .... yesterday it stopps. i did nothing.🙂
Hmm weird. How long did it last ? Cause it ran for more than 7 hours on my machine (MBA) before I killed it
I have the same issue with my Mid 2012 Macbook pro
The problem has gone after updating to MacOS Sierra 10.12.1 on my MacBook Air 2014.
mine happened when I opened the Shoebox photos app. Did yours only happen on Sierra? Mine did.
Yes, it only happens on Sierra
Have you tried updating to 10.12.1 ?
That seems to have fixed it for me.
Same here. Disabling all extensions in Google Chrome helped instantly (I even didn't have to quit Chrome). I didn't hunt which one of them is the culprit
Happened to me as well - but mine was related to an unresponsive Notification Center process. When I killed that in Activity Monitor logd instantly dropped away.
early 2016 MacBook running macOS Sierra 10.12.1
I also had issues with this (why I landed on this site) on my older Macbook Air running macOS Sierra.
Just force / kill -9 did not help and it was respawning with >100 % cpu usage immidialaty after.
But as in this screenshot I also noticed a high lod on the suggestd, which may be the
main cause here and logd might just be a symptom. After killing both with:
sudo killall -9 logd suggestd
my system resumed and worked fine after and I can see an ok behaving suggestd process running as well.
So for the ones which can not reboot their computer right now it might be worth a try,
but sure, killing some process and not knowing what it does can always be a risk ,...
How did you narrow it down to notification centre?
Activity Monitor flagged the "Notification Center" process as unresponsive - see the figure in "Step 3" here (macissues.com) for an example.
got the same since today on my MacBook Air (2015) - first time I frequently hear the fan. No updates installed within the last days. Updated to Sierra some weeks ago. Shutting down other processes doesn't help. Annoying.
Would it help to buy a Mac Book in rose gold ?
Bling-Bling "technology"...
I found that closing chrome beta worked for me. Try closing open applications until you narrow it down to the one that is causing the problem.
