Problem with trackpad on Mac OS Sierra

I have this problem too. Dreamweaver scrolls crazy fast. Adjusting the volume in VLC Player is really hard because the scroll is so fast. However, in Excel scroll is incredibly slow, so much so that it's very difficult to use scrolling at all when working in spreadsheets.

This is a really frustrating bug! Would love any advice on a resolution.

I have found that disabling all gestures which are not functioning, restarting the machine, then re-enabling them will resolve the issue

But not for me

I think that if Apple fixes this issue his customers would all work and feel better.

Me too have the same problem. I updated to Mac OS Sierra i faced the same problem. I can see the Mouse pointer zooming, automatically screen moves and not working properly.

I take the macbook pro to service center they say that trackpad problem. I downgraded to Mac OS Lion and it was perfect.

I dont know what is happening and the service center people asking me Rs. 8000 (INR) equivalent to USD $150. It worst.

At first I connected a separate trackpad , which improved things., but did 100 fix. Still had random movements and clicks from the cursor. This was kind of intermittent , but definitely no longer than 30 minutes without an attact.

2nd I noticed in the Accessibilty>Trackpad section you can disable the inbuilt trackpad. Did that , with now just the external trackpad to use and it works flawlessly. That would tend to suggest a hardware fault on my built in trackpad . I'd run the apple tests with no fails.

However just noticed this tip .. about unchecking and then checking the scrolling in Accessibility menu. Did that, and re-enabled the built in trackpad.. Been operating now for about 2 hours without problem.. so looking more and more like a MacOS Sierra issu.

For my MacBook Air, trackpad scrolling in Microsoft Word is irregular with large lagtime. It's very difficult to scroll to a particular position with any precision. For other applications (e.g., Google Chrome) scrolling is smooth and without lag. However, I'm pretty sure on El Capitan there used to be a "swipe"-like scrolling feature so if you swiped down with two fingers, the scroll continued after your fingers left the trackpad, but that doesn't seem to work anymore. The moment you stop the swipe, the scrolling stops as well. Overall, looks like scrolling has some major issues in Sierra.

Any hope Apple can look into this and restore the trackpad behavior of El Capitan?

I had the same problem after upgrading-- actually my TrackPad would not scroll at all. Going into the Accessibility menu and unchecking/checking the TrackPad option worked as reported by others. Thanks.

My macbook trackpad scrolling problem was fix after update to OS 10.12.1 release 2 days ago hope it's gonna be helpful.

After the update to OS 10.12.1 the scrolling with Magic Trackpad 2 goes much better, but to click to drag and drop is a very weird thing to do. This way probably I will become an illusionist.
