iOS 10 Bluetooth Calling Infiniti G37

Hi

Since upgrading to the AT&T iPhone 7 (unwillingly - long story) with iOS 10, I have the unfortunate experience that Bluetooth is unusable for calling in my 2013 Infiniti G37.

Previously, accepting a call from the iPhone 6 resulted in the microphone being routed improperly, but accepting a call from the car's phone controls worked - audio and microphone routed correctly through the car's handsfree system.

On the iPhone 7, no matter which way you dial or accept a call in the car, the audio and microphone inputs always go through the phone. This is even though the phone indicates, incorrectly, that the audio is being routed through bluetooth.

This is a dangerous situation because you have to take your eyes off the road to try to correct it by switching the audio to the iPhone speaker or the iPhone handset, then switch it back to bluetooth in order for the audio to work correctly. Not good while driving.

It seems like Apple or its suppliers needs to issue new firmware or software updates to make this work correctly, asap.

I was concerned about having a cost associated with having this done. At first contact with the service department they pretty much told me to just remove and re-pair my phone, which I knew wasn't going to fix anything. I found the official Nissan/Infiniti TSB and presented it to the service person. They took my keys, got the disc, and did the upgrade, no questions and no charge. Took about 30 minutes for the process. Only caveat is that you have to re-pair your phone and I found that my stored vehicle contacts were wiped out, which was only four of them.

I actually printed this out, took it with me, handed it to the service person and said, "this is my exact problem".

I tested it before leaving the dealership by using a second phone to call mine. Works just like it is supposed to now.

As for what "broke" in the first place with the iOS update, I couldn't tell you. But agree, Apple kind of dropped the ball on this one.

I'm having the same issue, or very close anyway, with iOS 10 on my 2013 G37, I can't answer the phone using the phone button on the wheel, I have to actually answer the phone, then push the phone button, not real safe, better to just answer the phone. I've got the latest iOS 10.1.1 update I found through iTunes, still doesn't work, arrrgh!😕

I have an Infiniti 2011 FX35. After the update does maps/Siri come through in audio? Before the apple iOS update my iPhone map directions could be heard through my speakers. Or Siri when using voice control, but now no navigation through iPhone over speaker, and Siri is hit or miss. My phone seems to be dropping Bluetooth signal, then reconnecting seconds later. So dissappointed in this release.

Does your iphone map navigation work through your car speakers after the update? I visited the dealer last week, received the update for my 2011 Infiniti FX 35, Ref: ITB12-054b, Classification: EL12-061b, and iPhone navigation no longer communicating through vehicle speakers. wondering if I needed to request another update, or that is just how the system will work from now on.

Oh, I'd be willing to pay the $45, I'll have to ask on this one, how long ago did you do this update? Did you get it from Infiniti?

Holwill71 - thanks for your post. I'm looking over at gps underground. Do I understand it correctly that I only need to download DVD update part1 part2? In other words, I can ignore the files associated with "DVD 1, DVD 2, DVD 3, DVD 4".

Also:

I assume this won't affect my maps (I'm in USA)?

I also assume I won't need a license key as I'm not updating the maps?

Any special instructions for combining the files (they are downloading right now)?

Again, thanks for your post.

The software update is separate from the map update and it didn't need a license key. Only the map update needs . My car has made for the European market, but you can check the software number on the foto what I posted. Before version:X3E32003, the latest X3E52005.

We're going through the exact symptoms with our 2011 G37X and one of our iPhone 6 handsets - the other iPhone 6 is working fine. This is a weird situation!

FYI I am in Canada, and our local dealership claimed to have never heard of this issue. I spoke with a bluetooth expert at Infiniti Canada and he confirmed that the DVD update REF: ITB12-054b was sent to all dealerships in the Fall of 2016. This is the update being referred to in this thread. The local dealership has yet to get back to me on finding this update package.

I have a news for all. Since about 2 weeks my iPhone 6s has a same Bluetooth connection issue again( my Infiniti firmware was updated). IOS 10.2 did worse again. My iPhone 7 has iOS 10.2 also and works perfectly with my Infiniti. I took the 6s to the local apple service and they run a test on it .

They said the phone has no any problems.

!!! Because they did not find anything the service will change the iPhone 6s for a new, under warranty!!! What could I say? When the new phone will arrive ( they had not any at that days) I will write a post if that will work fine with my Infiniti fx 2013 or not
