Unenroll from Beta Program (Software Update annoyance)

Hello.

I participated and greatly enjoyed the macOS 10.12 Sierra public beta program but now that the commercial release has become available I’d rather switch back to the mainline.

This morning a Public Beta release of 10.12.1 showed up in Software Update.

So I went into Settings > App Store and disabled Beta software, and refreshed: the proposed update is still there.

So I went into /private/var/folders/zzz and nuked the contents of that, and refreshed: the proposed update is still there.

So I rebooted, and refreshed the App Store updates again: and of course, the proposed update is still there.

How do I get rid of that but ensure that I will be alerted when the definitive release of 10.12.1 is released?

Or am I going to have to live with it and be wary of never clicking “Update All” ever again?

Thanks.

Open the App Store > Purchased. Find the Sierra Beta purchase then right/control-click in the white space of its row and choose hide purchase.

That’s a bit worrying.

Anyway, I’m running the Public Beta Golden Master (build 16A320), though I’m vaguely aware that a second Golden Master was released to Developers.

I’m now downloading the official release to see if applying that puts me back onto the mainline. I’ll report back (particularly considering John’s experience reported above).

Hi I was a beta tester member like you but i un enrolled before updating to the public release version 16A323.

This morning I found I had received the 10.12.1 beta update.

So I really do not know what is going on.

Hope you get your issue sorted and hopefully mine too

If System Preferences > App Store no longer says this…

in theory you shouldn't have received the 10.12.1 update.
