Mouse problems with display port 1.2 in MST (4K display)

With macOS Sierra, there is strange thing with 4K display connected via DisplayPort in DP 1.2 MST mode (required for 60Hz refresh rate).

As the screen is split into two sub screens in this mode - mouse behaved differently on every half of the screen. It seems that right side of the screen has mouse offset of around 50 pixels.

With standard DP 1.1 mode there is no such phenomenon.

Very unfortunate to keep suffering this problem making an expected set of professional tools impossible to be used: Macbook Pro + 4K professional display + Mac OS

I have opened a bug report to apple, I encourage all of you to make it visible through further bug reports and direct feedback, assuming Apple support does not read support communities:

Any one testing latest Beta version from next Sierra patch?

After weeks of trial and error, it seems that I've found a workaround that has been consistent (Macbook Pro on Henge Docks, docked in clam-shell mode, Dell 5K display, Apple Bluetooth mouse):
1) Select "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off" in Energy Saver settings in System Preferences)
2) Create a hot-corner for "Put display to sleep" (option in "Desktop & Screen Saver" in System Preferences).
3) Make the screen sleep by moving the mouse pointer to the hot-corner

4) Wake the screen up BY PRESSING THE MOUSE.

Remarks:

- If you use the keyboard to wake the screen up, the problem persists.

- If the screen goes to sleep by itself (timer), the problem is still there when it's woken up - no matter what method.

I hope it works for at least some more people out there and that it could give Apple some hints on how to fix it.

Does this workaround last until next sleep/power cycle? I used screensaver triggered by hot corner for a while (there may also be a way to enter screensaver with a shortcut) solution but given up as it is not reliable. Both color profiles trick and screensaver always fix the issue only to reappear short after. Mainly on the following app (or even tab within the same app) switch. Ended up disabling MST until there is a fix or I find couple of days to revert back to el cap. In my book 30fps slideshow is still better than inaccurate pointer which is a disaster in graphics apps.

Hi,

Same problem with a DELL UP2414Q and a MBPr 15" late 2013. I had an earlier MBPr 15" and I changed it to this model just due to support of 4K 60Hz display via TB2/DP1.2, it is very disappointing Apple handles professional users with this lack of care.

Very bad for the answer given so far, hope on the one who opened developer case towards apple, I assume this is the only way to get it solved by apple maintenance group, I will open another case if not solved soon.

My problem looks like it's fixed after the update. The problem with mine was the cursor would change as i slid the mouse to the left part of the screen, and it would change right over the halfway point of the monitor. It's been a couple of hours since i've updated.

My hardware is 980ti on a mac pro with Dell UP2715K

I'll update the status tomorrow morning, after a full night of sleep.

But so far it looks good,

Unfortunately that's what i imagined... starting to get the feeling that APPL will not solve this intentionally. It might disappear eventually with some new drivers or other changes, but they don't seem to acknowledge the issue or do anything about it.

I even remember a few years ago when I had to manually edit and replace kexts and fix system files because they botched the graphics drivers for a few consecutive .x updates.... Not to mention the wifi in the first versions of El Capitan.

I believe this is very display specific, definitely doesn't show on all 4K displays driven over DP1.2 MST. Doesn't even show on all displays from the same mfg and the same line of panels.

In my case the problem is there on DELL UP2414Q at home but is absolutely fine on DELL UP3216Q at work.

Point being, the problem is not uniform and any potential fix may or may not work for some depending on the Mac/GPU/Panel harness...
