Oct 7, 2016 11:16 AM in response to mohamednewby iprometheus,I too have the problem with the "Bookmarks" folder disappearing from the list and I thought it was due to an update to the latest Safari, but then I remembered that around the same time I updated Safari, I also installed Firefox and during the install I clicked the "import bookmarks" option. If anything caused this glitch, I would have to guess that was it since it does not affect everyone. Most likely the "bookmarks.html" file has been corrupted by firefox or even a chrome import command. The option noted a page back to "delete your bookmarks.html file and reinstall from Chrome/Cloud" is the best option and I will be trying that. Until then, I clicked "show bookmarks" to get the left sidebar to show up and in the blank space I right clicked to get the drop down menu. I then clicked New Folder, named it Bookmarks, and now I have a Favorites and Bookmarks option when I click command-D.

Oct 8, 2016 1:16 AM in response to mohamednewby Sebastian Truffaut,Same problem for me too.
I use the top level for temporary bookmarks, and folders for permanent references. The absence of the "bookmarks" top level is an inconvenience to my workflow, even with proposed work arounds. Hope its fixed in forthcoming release.

Oct 14, 2016 6:10 AM in response to mohamednewby ErnaSheree,I'm not sure if someone already posted this, but if you right click the little + next to the URL that you want to bookmark, "Bookmarks" appears in the little menu. I did this by accident and got excited, thinking the bug was fixed. It's not haha Not a complete bug fix, just another option. Again, my mistake if someone already pointed this out.

Oct 14, 2016 6:22 AM in response to ErnaShereeby mohamednew,Yes. Many thanks. It works. But I do not want to be too picky. The added bookmarks is now at the top of my bookmarks not the usual order to come last. At least that happened with me now.
Many thanks ErnaSheree.

Oct 15, 2016 7:41 AM in response to iprometheusby mhomier,I have the same problem, but have not installed any other browsers, so must be Safari. Based on a suggestion to do so, I have sent feedback to Apple. http://www.apple.com/feedback/

Oct 15, 2016 11:20 AM in response to mohamednewby M.Hany,So, to summarize the two workarounds until the bug is fixed:
1- Click on the URL address bar and drag it to the far left, a sidebar will show up, and drop the URL to the desired bookmark location.
2- Click and hold on the little '+' icon at the left side of the URL address bar, and while holding choose the location to save the bookmark.
